Default What Would You Pay to end the War

How much money would you pay if Toshiba/MS said give us this much and we will stop making HD DVD right now. I'd be willing to pay $250, as I have paid over 1000 in blu-ray hardware/software and another $250 would guarentee my investment and give me some movies i want sooner vs. later. Just curious on how much money we would total on blu-ray.com to end the war.

I wouldn't pay a dime to any company. What I will do is buy BDs and wait for time to take it's coarse to it's natural conclusion.

and run the risk of hd dvd making a lucritive offer to another studio and them accepting it running HDM into the ground.

I wouldn't pay anything to those companies as well. They've got enough already, HD DVD is not going to work out for them so they'll cut their losses and start to invest in something new. They wanted to go that way, so let them be.

I'd rather see Toshiba keep losing tons of money. Toshiba has tried to bully a win with bribes instead of compromising and giving studios the features they want to support the format. I'm content with seeing studios that support HD DVD continue to support HD DVD into the future when Blu is outselling 8:1. Blu players and content will come down in price with volume and HD DVD will stay the same or become higher priced when their volume decreases.

One person spending a large sum of money on BDs wont make a difference. You need many people routinely purchasing movies to show favor in the format.

I get at least one BD movie a week, with the exception of nine last week.

For instance, HDDVD has Transformers coming out in October and some hope for it to redeem the HDDVD format, but one movie alone cannot keep a format alive. For the one movie that the HDDVD fans buy in October, I ll be buying Day After Tomorrow, 28 days Later, 28 Weeks Later, Evil Dead 2, Robocop, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man Trilogoy, to name only those off the top of my head.

I would pay for as many good movies that are published on Blu-Ray. Other than that... Not a dime. They don't need my donations.

Did Microsoft/Toshiba sent you here? As far as I'm concerned, I have and I am already paying to end the war....by supporting Blu-ray only. Every dollar I spend on Blu-ray goes to show my support for that technology. And if Paramount decides that it is not enough and would rather go with Microsoft's incentive....then thats their choice, but it won't change my decision to stick with Blu-ray. Eventually HD-DVD will die off and Paramount will be back.

I'll spend up to $29.99 and I plan on doing so tomorrow. That's when I'll buy Underworld. I know it's cheaper on Amazon but then it's not free shipping for me and anyway,... that's my story.

Exactly! It's like Natural Selection. BD is a supperior format that WILL survive it's enviornment and the future. What happend to VHS? What is now happening to DVD? What do you think will happen to HD DVD? Its only logical.
