Default I Spit on Your Grave 2 (2013)

Uh, so I just saw this pop up on my "Best Blu-ray Deals" thing:

I Spit On Your Grave 2

I didn't see any threads for it, but I am kind of intrigued. I never saw the first one (nor the original) because I am too scared they will traumatize me because of the women being brutalized, but did the new one have an opening for a sequel?

The director of the first film is doing this sequel.

Anyone know anything about this? Just another direct-to-DVD crapfest?

Official trailer:

That cover probably took 3 minutes to make in photoshop. Whoever got paid for that is lucky.

I didn't think it was that bad. It has the same style as the poster for the first one, doesn't it?

Though, I never paid attention to what she was holding.. I thought it was a flashlight. But under closer inspection, it looks like it is a light saber getting powered up.

Tasers don't look like that, do they?

The better question is, why is she holding it behind her? And why is it on? Girl is going to hurt herself.

The director of the first film is doing this sequel.
I saw the original film once when I was younger, and was unsettled to the extent that I felt no need ever to see it a second time.

The twisted curious side of me that has a propensity to slow down when I'm driving by car accidents led me to rent the remake a couple of years ago, and I had the exact same reaction to it. I do think that the remake did what it did really well, though, and that it was just as effectively disturbing as the original film.

Not to give anything away with spoilers about the earlier film, but I am inclined to think that this sequel features an entirely different cast in an entirely different situation.

To be fair... most horror titles lie. Friday The 13th doesn't actually take place in any friday, let alone the 13th. Last House On The Left features a house but it isn't the last one or in the left direction. And we can go on and on...

There's a gritty homegrown sense of Americana about the original film (I'm talking atmosphere, not content), and taking the series overseas just sort of makes it a Hostel clone. I'll pass.

^ to be honest I was weary of that too. I do like the isolated cottage/woods of the original and remake better, but I'm a sucker for exploitation revenge films so I have to see it. And I still think this looks like it could be good, in the way that these movies can be good anyway.

There is an official trailer. I guess it premiered only a little over a week ago:

I updated the OP with the trailer.

Also, this was strange. I guess there was an unauthorized sequel to the 1978 original:

Savage Vengeance

Very strange.

If this wasn't done by the same director as the remake i'd be passing so i'm definitely interested.

I like the remake. So I will check this out.
The girl in the original is cuter than in the remake but the remake is better and more violent IMO.

Like the sorta-sequel from the late 90s.

I'll Kill You... I'll Bury you...
I'LL SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE, TOO!

I'm looking forward to see how much they push the envelope in this one.
The trailers look pretty good to me, still unsure of the new girl though. I wish it was 2.35:1 framing though like the first. Not that it changes the movie - just consistency.

The US and Canada BD are the same (as is most always the case, with some exceptions) so that's cool to see!
Thanks for the screenshots!

I personally thought the re-make was garbage so I have no interest in seeing this.
