Hopefully it won't be cropped like the Hammer Horror 8-Film Collection that Universal put out.

I'm pleasantly surprised to see Scream double-dipping on Universal's Hammer titles. I don't expect everything from the set, but I could envisage CE's of Brides of Dracula and The Evil of Frankenstein. |

My first ever horror film. Watched it on a Saturday night TV Creature Feature when I was 9 or 10. Gave me nightmares for what seemed like weeks (was probably actually days). It lost that mystique for me when I finally watched it with adult eyes, but still have a soft spot for this one. Cover art is terrific!

Man this great! Werewolves have always been my favorite movie monsters. I’m glad I held of on that Blu-ray box set with this as this was the only title I was going to buy it for. Easily in the top 5 werewolf movies of all time. Can Not Wait!

It's horrible but yes there were scenes shot to pad out the film's run time for American television. I remember they were still airing this longer version on New York TV in the mid-'80s when I was a kid. I had recorded it off television and when I got the factory sealed MCA/Universal VHS tape several years later as a gift, I wondered why the store bought copy was "missing" scenes.
I happen to enjoy The Evil of Frankenstein though and I certainly DO hope Scream releases it (maybe even WITH the TV inserts as extras for nostalgia). Very much looking forward to this new transfer of The Curse of the Werewolf too! |

IMO, this film is one of the key films in the Hammer Films library, so my fingers are crossed that we'll receive a blu ray release that features a film with the correct Aspect Ratio and an improved A/V presentation. Scream dropped the ball with the Abominable Snowman release, let's hope this one makes up for it.

Shout will really have to hit it out of the park with the new scan and hopefully proper aspect ratio (regardless of conflicting info so far) to beat the Anolis German release. One of my favorite Hammer films but I will wait and see how it compares to the Anolis before thinking about triple dipping (after the Anolis and Universal Hammer box releases). One of the extras I hope Shout includes is the John Bolten drawn Hammer House Of Horror comic adaptation:
![]() This does bode well for Brides Of Dracula later this year which while properly framed on it's Anolis release, could really do with a new scan of the source elements (if they still exist in any decent shape). Last edited by Partyslammer; 01-09-2020 at 01:40 AM. |
