Arrow CRANK 3 - Jason Statham Is Back. Chev Chelios Lives!

In a society where giant blue smurfs, emo kid wizards, pretty shirtless vampires & whatever flash-in-the-pan cgi kiddy movies seem to be the only flicks which soak up hundreds of millions at the box office: Pure unadulterated no holds barred films like the Crank series are definitely the hidden gems of movie going mantertainment and should be preserved at the Library Of Congress.

Quote:
A Third "Crank" Is On The Way

Mark Nevedine tells Empire that not only is a third "Crank" film being planned, they're trying to get "Luther" and "Thor" star Idris Elba in the next one.

Nevedine and his cohort Brian Taylor recently shot "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" with Elba. Nevedine says "we joking-but-not-quite-jokingly joked about that with Idris while we were over in Romania and Turkey. Just trying to figure out a way of getting him into Crank 3. There are so many different ways that Crank 3 could go. We’ve been talking about the top 50 ideas we what to do for Crank 3, so we’re just trying to pair them down. By the way, Crank 3 is going to happen, the studios are really excited about it – it’s just all about timing."

Despite the last film's ending, Jason Statham will be back as Chev Chellios in this outing. "With Crank, basically, you insert another quarter and you play the game again. It’s kind of like what thrills me and Brian, it’s whatever we feel like doing there in the moment, whatever we wanna do, we just do and make it happen. The important thing is what powers Chev. It was adrenaline that kept him alive in the first one, it was electricity in the second one, you know, it’s all about what will keep him alive in the third one. It’s just fun slinging those ideas around."

This is pulled & edited a bit from an old post of mine. Crank 2 still ranks near the top of most fun I've ever had at a movie theater. That was also my first time going to one of those Brew & View places.
Quote:
People don't realize the Crank films are not meant to be taken seriously at all. They're blatantly tongue-in-cheek and some of the best "guy movies" ever. Over-the-top, violent, hot women, crazy action. What's not to like? Also, when watching the sequel in the theater with the gf of that time, I noticed the crowd was one of the most diverse groups of people I've ever viewed a movie with (a lot of older couples to). This is also one of the few films that everyone was laughing & cheering (maybe is was the alcohol? lol) for the majority of the film. I was expecting the total opposite from the women in the audience, as this is the farthest thing from feminine you can get.

For all the recent negative nerd flack the writer/director team of Mark Neveldine & Brian Taylor are receiving for the upcoming Ghost Rider movie, I love the first two Crank movies. Can't wait to see what crazy scheme they concoct for this one.

Love Statham...but didn't really care for Crank 2 so hopefully this one is better. Who am I kidding though....I'm gonna see it either way!

Statham is my must-see actor right now, but the idiocy that was the first 2 Crank films will prevent me from seeing the third. Sorry Jason

I really like the first Crank and its over-the-top action, but I thought Crank 2 was a major disappointment. The "story" was okay (
[Show spoiler]he didn't die; he kills people
), but the way it tried to amp up everything from the first movie simply failed to deliver.

1st is one of my all time favorites, 2nd focused a little too much on the *****es aspect and over the topness for me, but Ill love 100 more of these movies no doubt. Did anyone notice the option for a family friendly no cussing option on the 1st movie's blu ray edition? Hilarious

I'm not a big fan of either movie, but I'm a big fan of Statham, and if Idris Elba is going to be in this too, I'm in!

Yeah, as someone said before they movies are meant to be over the top and not to be taken seriously.

Loved the first; thought the 2nd was reprehensible...

Bring on the insanity. Like others, I liked the first, and thought the second was too stupid for words (but still somewhat watchable). Blind bought the 2-pack...I'll be there for the third.

I welcome a new Crank flick.
I'am sick and tired of all the Disney, Pixar and comic book crap which seem to dominate todays movie screens.
Some new Jason Statham kickass "R" rated politically incorrect action up on the big screen is long overdue!
I already own Crank and Crank 2 on blu-ray and would love to add the third one in the trilogy.

Glad everyone sees eye to eye on Crank 2. It was an over the top unwatchable mess. The first one was unique but not really rewatchable.

I have the same problem!

Someone explained to me that it's because my Sony BDP-S580 player
doesn't have enough memory to play Crank 2.
It seems as though I have to purchase a usb memory stick and plug it
into the back of my blu-ray player to get the movie to play.

2 was a little over the top yes, but one was incredible. Perfect in everyway and I personally can rewatch and laugh every time at the hilariousness of the insane actions of Chev.
