![]() Genre: Real-Time Strategy Rating: Pending Players: Single-Player, 2-4 Online, 2 Split-Screen Extras: PS Move Support, 1080p, Level Editor with Online Sharing, Video Chat, Screenshot Capture, Video Capture and YouTube Upload, Custom Soundtrack, Bootable Cross-Game Invites Released on the PlayStation Store: North America: April 27 2011 | Europe/PAL: May 3rd 2011 Under Siege is a real-time strategy game exclusive to the PS3 and the PSN store. It includes a single player campaign as well as online and local multiplayer content. The in-game editor enables the players to create their own maps and share them with the world. ![]() Levels in Under Siege are divided into two main phases. In the preparation phase, the game is paused and the player is presented with a number of squad slots in the map, to fill however they please. Next is the battle phase, where the player is free to explore the level and attempt to complete any objectives. Depending on the level, there may be several mid-game preparation phases, so you can recruit more units or change the ones in play. Money is earned in the battle phase by killing enemies and collecting items, and is used in the preparation phase to recruit and train squads. Any squads that survive are carried to the next level. Squads also gain experience and level up through battle, becoming stronger and gaining new abilities. The Story So Far... Among the various sentient races that populate the world, humans are the only ones that adapted to live in the cold and harsh mountains of the North. Living in spread out settlements, built around whatever farmable land they could find, humans lived in relative isolation from both other races and each other. Relations between human villages were limited to trading and occasionally to form hunting parties in the winter, whenever farming was no longer enough to maintain each village. Attacks from wild beasts or plundering groups of thieves were frequent, so a small number of men from each village were trained to fight, normally by their fathers, who were themselves part of the previous generation of warriors. One day, Ingvar, son of a blacksmith, and a great warrior, decided to unify the human villages beneath one banner. Through his charismatic personality he managed to persuade the neighboring villages to help in building a fortified city, a place where everyone could live in peace, protected by an organized group of soldiers. And so, the Citadel was born. For the next few years, several villages joined under the rule of Ingvar. Attracted by the promise of protection and prosperity, more and more people started leaving the remote settlements and gathering near the safety of the Citadel. Suddenly, something changed in Ingvar’s view of the world. Commerce with other races was eliminated, as Ingvar felt they were bad influences on the people of the Citadel, and were trying to conspire to bring it down. He declared the villages that wanted to remain independent as rebels, enemies of the Citadel, and ordered the military to attack them. Those that either tried leaving the Citadel or voiced an opinion against its rule were swiftly dealt with. The growth of the kingdom continued on blood and ashes... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Shin-Ra; 04-18-2011 at 11:39 PM. |

Either it's the same project developped by 2 studios, or Portugal is in love with the PS3
![]() also kinda looks like a more kid oriented version of Populous.\ Quote:

![]() Answers to the community #1 Posted by: César Pinto Hi there. I would like to thank everyone in the name of Seed Studios for all the feedback and input that were left on our comments section and all around the web (fan sites, forums, blogs). It’s very important to us, it keeps our team in a quest to achieve the best results possible. In an effort to keep the community updated with the game development we answered some questions that came directly from the dev. Diary users. There were tons, so we had to pick up the more interesting ones. GAME FEATURES Q: The game will be a tower defense style? Mini-RPG, tower defence game. RTS? Is it a RPG? There is base building involved right? A: Under Siege is an RTT (Real Time Tactics) game. It focus only in battles without gathering resources or base building. Q: Will there be a single player story campaign in addition to multiplayer? Splitscreen co-op and versus support would be AWESOME A: Yes, there is a Single Player campaign. We will have split-screen support, more on this soon. Q: I’m guessing user made content will be maps? A: We will reveal more in a future dev diary post. HOW TO GET IT Q: Are we looking at a PSN or full fledged Bluray release? A: It’s a PSN release. Q: Is this a Playstation Network Exclusive? A: Yes. SUGGESTIONS & MISC Q: You could have the PS3 stream the map directly to the PSP. Or do you guys think that would be arkward? The PSP could work as a side mini-map? A: There are currently no plans to support the PSP. Q: Can’t wait for gameplay footage…maybe E3, GDC, Leipzig? A: Gameplay footage coming soon!!! Q: When is the next Development Diary coming? A: We aim to have a post every month, so try to keep us tracked! We have RSS, the newsletter and many kind of notifications that you all already know. Use them ![]() First race unveiled - Humans Posted by: César Pinto In this post of the Dev Diary we’ll go a bit further on the details and talk about the Humans, one of the races inhabiting the world of Under Siege. HUMAN RACE Although they are one of the youngest races, human technology has quickly surpassed that of several others, giving them an edge when it comes to weaponry and general warfare. After several wars between the various clans, most humans united under the flag of the Utgard Citadel, established as an impenetrable stronghold in the middle of the Ullar Mountains. Even so, several resistance movements determined to maintain independence still breed constant fighting and humans are often seen as an overly ambitious and honor-less species by the other races. ![]() THE UNITS ![]() Name: Soldier Description: Soldiers are the main force of the Citadel army, covered in plate armor and carrying both a sword and a shield, they are prepared to engage any kind of enemy. Soldiers are capable of taunting enemies forcing them to attack and also of blocking melee and ranged attacks using their shields. ![]() ![]() Name: Archer Description: Human archers are trained since childhood to form the backbone of the Citadel’s defense. Although they wear only a light chain mail under their coats, they excel in showering their enemies in arrows and eliminating them before they can get close enough to use a sword. ![]() ![]() Name: Heavy Cannon Description: Cannon handlers forge their own weapons and treat them as a part of themselves, they are as important to them as an arm or a leg. Respected above all other members of the army because of their great strength, they carry their cannon throughout the battlefield and fire it without ever setting it down, killing several enemies in a single blast. ![]() Last edited by Shin-Ra; 05-05-2009 at 02:30 AM. |
