Default Are there any active actors here?

Are there any active actors on this forum? If yes: I'm interested in how you have started acting and what it is what you exactly do.

I mean, this is probably the largest blu-ray/film forum on the internet, the chance that some (famous) active actors are a member of this message board, is quite big. Or am I wrong?

Maybe. Maybe not.
Maybe you are Nicolas Cage. Or Liam Neeson. Or Christian Bale?
Maybe you're Jackie Chan. We will never no .

I would bet not a single popular actor is a member of this site, if that could ever possibly be known. They're busy working and making a lot of money. I really doubt they're like us posting about movies on the internet.

Do you talk about your job on the internet? I dont. I cant imagine they would have any desire to come here and just talk about movies with strangers.

Maybe starting actors? It doesn't necessarily have to be about 'popular' actors . And 'popular' actors are human to. Maybe they do have the desire to talk about movies, since their profession is all about movies .

Hi I’m actor Troy McClure. You might remember me from such educational films as “Lead Paint: Delicious But Deadly,” and “Here Comes the Metric System!”

In '86 I went down to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena Ca. Spent a year there and stayed down in LA for 7 years. Did some acting here and there but it's tough biz to break into. Most wannabes are waiters etc., so it's easy for them to get time off to go to auditions but from those, you can get repeated call-backs and still end up without the role because of several different factors. Many, are extras or 'atmosphere' just to keep the dream alive but out of everyone I went to that school with, none became the actors/actresses they wanted to be. You might get lucky as a few do but you have to be ready for the dissapointent as well. It might be talent, it might be looks but you can get a lot of offers for 'unsavory' work, that's for sure.

+1. I did pretty much the same thing in '95. Got some parts here and there, had a lot of fun(sometimes too much, I was on my own). But ultimately knew nothing was gonna happen. Met a girl, moved back to the east coast and stopped feeling like a loser. But I don't regret anything--nor do I recommend it.

I agree with you here. I'm glad I did it when I did, because otherwise, I'd always wonder what could have happened had I tried. It was a great experience, I learned a lot about the biz and about myself. I grew up a lot and adopted a wider peripheral vision which translated to a better understanding of the world around me. If you don't have any ties where you are and you can give things a shot without leaving loose ends, it's worth the time, if for no other reason, to just satisfy that urge... the wonder.

Well, some of you have tried to become an actor.
But have you never thought of doing something else within the entertainment industry?

I have no idea what I want to do at the moment. I'm studying international business, but I don't even live in the United States . I'd like to do my internship (6 months) in the USA next year. I have to study for 6 months in the USA in year 3 of my studies, so I'll be spending a lot of time in the states the coming 2 years .

It would be nice to do something within the entertainment industry, but it sounds like that's almost impossible .
