Default Sub causing wall damage

My sub is causing drywall nails to pop on one wall. What should i do? I have a Polk audio PSW 125 on a Auralex Great Gramma isolator. I have it corner loaded about 6" to 8" from the corner. Will moving out further from the wall help? Nails are just causing blisters. I went & pounded them back in before they started cracking the paint. Not that bad now, but how do i keep this from happening.

  1. Move the subwoofer about a foot or more away from the side walls.
  2. Turn the crossover on the back of the sub all the way up to its maximum point. The crossovers are set inside the receiver.
  3. Turn the level on the back of the sub to around 50%, no higher than 70%.
  4. Run the auto calibration program inside the receiver again and check the level of the sub with an SPL meter. If you feel the sub is too loud and shakes the walls, lower its level.
  5. After the auto calibration program is finished, check the crossovers in the receiver's menu. A crossover of 120Hz for the sub and 80Hz for the other speakers is the norm. If the receiver has set the crossover of the speakers to higher numbers than 80Hz, do not lower them.
  6. Think about buying a few bass traps and wall treatments.
  7. It may be very helpful to read A Guide to Bass Management (Part I) and A Guide to Bass Management (Part II).

Remove the nails as each loosens and replace them with appropriate sized screws. Many with louder bass go through this. If you get to the point where your light bulbs around the house are "dying" prematurely get those "tough duty" models.

Thought about bass traps, but the wife will never let me do that. Our theater is in the main living room!! I moved the sub away from both walls, reset speakers to small, & bass to sub, instead of both the speakers & sub. Crossover is set at 100 from the YPAO on my yamaha reciever. Hopefully this will help.
Haven't had any screws come thru the paint yet, so don't need any repairs(keeping my fingers crossed)!!
Will try this with movies & music & see how i like it. I seem to remember having my reciever set to sub only & didn't care for the sound with music. Sounded a little bright as i remember.
Thanks for the advice guys. Daddy you always have the answers!!

try adding two THT subs to your house. I had to replace 700 nails with screws throughout my house because of this

Even better, he should add three more Polk Audio PSW 125's to his setup.
Because nothing beats a quad subwoofer equipped home theater for shear impact.

What kind of sub? An American one? A Russian one?

Nuclear or conventional? I would have thought they could do more than damage walls though.

I ran ypao again & have decided my system sounds best with all speakers set to small, but with bass out to both fronts & sub. tried it with bass just to sub & it doesn't sound nearly as good. Crossover is set at 120.
