Default Monopoly Streets

__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _________________
Electronic Arts plans to revamp the way we look at Monopoly with their latest take on the greatest board game of all time, Monopoly Streets.

http://www.gamingtarget.com/article.php?artid=11369

If this new way of playing Monopoly doesn't appeal, EA has also pledged to include classic board options in Monopoly Streets as well.

I love the game, the Boardgame that is, I don't know how well it would translate but I'll keep my eyes open for this.

I think that's a no-brainer.

If you love the board game there is a downloadable mini that includes Monopoly in like 9 different boards, ranging from the classic to a chocolate world to a trip through space. Although the boards are only slightly different, they are all basically still monopoly.

Monopoly is pretty awesome...I'd consider it if the price doesn't turn out to be as ridiculous as Hasbro Familhy Game Night.

LIFE is my fave board game though. I used to have LIFE for PS1. It would be sweet if they brought that back with online multiplayer!

Knowing EA, I wouldn't be surprised if they left it out.

Default Monopoly Streets is out

Monopoly Streets ($38.40 on Amazon) was released on October 25, 2010. I bought it when Amazon had it on sale for $25.99 during the Thanksgiving Week Lightning Sales (specifically on Nov 25, Thanksgiving Day) Anyway, it's not listed in the PS3 Games here, so I can't add it to my game collection on this site. Can users add games here themselves, or is that a function of the web developer? If we can, how?

These features should answer the questions some folks had in this thread. I bolded the features that specifically answer the questions.

Key Features:
  • Experience Mr. Monopoly's world at an interactive, 3D street level in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the beloved Monopoly game
  • Add houses to your properties and watch as high-rent districts sprout mansions and lavish hotels
  • Occupy your own property headquarters; watch it rise to luxurious splendor or fall into a dilapidated ruin in tune with your fortunes
  • Add competition to the game by auctioning properties with your friends - snatch a great deal or try to break your rival's bank
  • Play the way you remember with classic game board modes offering a nostalgic glimpse into the past, or explore all-new Monopoly and Monument Cities
  • Establish and save house rules to play longer or shorter based on your own schedule
  • Hop online to challenge players for your shot at fame and earn a spot on local, national and world leaderboards
  • Download fun extras online, including themed boards and tokens

I've installed the game, but haven't had the time to play it yet. Hopefully this weekend. The amazon link has some reviews. The only bad review talks about bugs, but when I installed the game it downloaded something, maybe an update. Anyway, I'll post again after I've had a chance to play.

BTW, I looked at the pictures of your Camaro. Awesome!

My first car was a 1968 Camaro That was back in 1981. These days I drive a Toyota 4-Runner SUV because of the winters in Ohio

Default Monopoly Streets Review

I got the time to play Monopoly Streets today, and for TLDR folks... I recommend it

The "Streets" part of it (which includes the 3D buildings and such) looks nice, but you can also play on a regular board if you want. On the Streets board, after a character rolls the dice, they will move as appropriate to their token... e.g. my guy wearing the Top Hat ran, the woman pushed her Wheelbarrow, the racer drove his Car, etc. This process can be skipped, as can most all of the animations. Just hit the circle key. The option to skip moves is also in Options (hit Start button while playing to bring up Options).

Up to four players can play, and I chose three AI players on medium difficulty (AI choices are Easy, Medium and Hard). I haven't played Monopoly in almost 30 years, so wasn't sure I was ready for Hard AI The AI is actually pretty good, although I think the AI players put up properties they land on for auction instead of automatically buying them more than they should, although that doesn't happen too often. Of course, I think that if you have the money to purchase a property that you land on, you automatically buy it. Properties are they way to win, and you can never have enough!

The Medium AI isn't a push-over for trading, and I did test it I coudn't get away with paying too little, though, hehe. Sometimes the AI player even came back with a counter-offer to mine, which I thought was neat. I wasn't expecting that.

There is a Tutorial option, but that's really only for people who haven't played the Monopoly game at all, before. However, you can turn off the tutorial after starting a game, so feel free to test it out.

I only got in seven turns and saved the game, because I wanted to watch the BCS Countdown and Bowl Selection Special shows on ESPN tonight

There is online play available, and you can also associate your Playstation Network account with your EA.com account, getting trophies and monopoly money to spend on new tokens and game boards for the game. If you also have an XBox 360 and get that version instead, the game allows you to use your XBox Live avatar in the game.

I didn't encounter any bugs or problems in the time I played.

Definitely recommended

I love this game!!! been renting it from Gamefly. Will buy it once it drops to about 10 bucks or so on Amazon or Gamefly.

I also would love to know how to unlock the other boards.... also how do you unlock the tokens? Someone said they unlocked all but the cop token...I didn't know you could unlock stuff besides trophies and boards. lol

edit: just looked online and apparantly you "buy" them in the Monopoly store in the game. Weird.

You use the Monopoly store to unlock tokens and boards. Just use the arrows buttons to switch between the two options.

Default game locks online / no response to input

real bad lock up (not frozen / still graphics video and sound) last night online when playing 2 players match

3/4 of the way (1.5 hours playing) thru a game and one of the opps left the game and gave all his stuff to the other and then right after that it was my turn and my character appeared but was just standing there and no icon to show what I could do ( X to continue, etc)

I waited 15 mins but the other person couldnt do anything to help
just laughed thru emoticons

i sent a message to them telling them it locked

had to abandon the game and lose any profile experience points!!!

need a patch/bug fix soon

anyone know if they have a bug report area online?

WOW! This game is pure crap. AI is just a bunch of cheating bastards, even on easy. EA dropped the ball big time. I have the PS1 version, published by Hasbro Interactive, I think I've played a thousand games, and at least that version is fair. What I have experienced tonight is just not right. I hope somebody will chime in to boost those online trophies, I want to get rid of that POS ASAP.
