Default Aspiring Filmmakers?

Just wondering if anyone here are fellow filmmakers like myself? I figure if there are, or if anyone is simply interested in possibly getting into this Industry, we should have a place to share our work, discuss it, give feedback, talk about work, and so on and so forth. With today's technology, namely DSLR cameras, it's an extremely exciting time for aspiring filmmakers to get out there, learn the ropes and create art. I'm hoping this thread doesn't simply die, or that I'm the only one here, and maybe we can encourage people who have only had an interest in films (this is a blu-ray forum after all!) to maybe take it up and learn for themselves. I might as well kick start it off!

Below is a Commercial I directed for my college; the Central Institute of Technology. Some of you may remember the "It's a Snap!" video by Henry and Aaron where promotional teleportation goes horribly wrong. Mine was the more "vanilla" Uni ad clocking in at 30 seconds in length. Was my first "big" production, and even played in front of movies in a bunch of cinemas in Western Australia. Check it out below, and share some of your own work!

I will not let this die ... yet!

Here's a music video I directed recently. Note: music may not be healthy for your grandmother.

Really dug the commercial! Very professional!

I'm an aspiring filmmaker myself. Currently going to SF state's film school. I mostly do little stupid skits with my brother and his friends right now however I hope to do more serious stuff in the next year.

Here's the latest I directed, although, I wouldn't say the quality is up to yours haha:

Sweat (Short Film) - YouTube
That was nice! What did you film it on?

Nice use of coverage, and the editing was pretty tight. Doing little skits is great because you're actually doing stuff. Keep filming, keep learning, keep at it!

I'm hoping to do some lighter stuff this year, now that my Studies are over, on the side of the more serious stuff I'll hopefully be doing.

Thank mans! I actually listed everything I used in the youtube description but just to reiterate I used the T3i with the 18-55mm kit lens. Shot on the Neutral picture style with no CC done in post.

Used the Zoom H1 for audio and synced up in post as well.

Right now since finals are over I'm hoping to write a few scripts out of ideas that have been circling around in my head for the past couple of months.

Great stuff, guys! I am currently working on my 3rd draft for my first film. I hope to start a kickstarter in the coming months. I will post a link to it here after I finish, if anyone wants to give me some pointers.

Yep, right here. But I'm more of a writer then anything else. Maybe a few years later I might consider directing, but for now it's mainly writing.

I've written about 12 feature length scripts in about 7 years. Just trying to find a way to film any of them or even just a bit.

That's usually the problem for all of us as well. Trying to get ANYTHING made is difficult but I'm sure with patience and perseverance we'll all succeed eventually one way another.

I'm just a one man person at the moment. Looking for a core group of people to help me. But I know my main problem is where I live.

I had to crudely truncate the ending as my 'friend' who was due to star in a sequel with me became a completely different person and threatened legal action unless I deleted him from the movie.

Everyone I trust turns into a bastard.

I am too, as soon as I get into film school next fall . I live in a small town like many of you people which is full of drunks, the oil industry and shotguns. I hate it since I am one of the only sane people here. I can't wait to move to Ontario or British Columbia!

I live in Ohio. Almost everyone here becomes a local teacher. It's annoying. I'm hoping to get into film school once I get my canon 7d.

I guess I'll toss my hat into the ring here This past summer, I finished work on my first truly independent (not for a grade for a class and not for a project for work) short film, entitled The Crossing.

It recently played at the Horrorfind Weekend Film Festival in Gettysburg, PA on a nice sized theater screen. It was surreal as hell to see a film I made, short or not, playing on a full sized movie theater screen!

And while it's hiding on YouTube, for those of you who have 15 minutes to kill, here's the full short:

I see you mentioned PA. Do you live in PA, or just in the area for the film festival?
