Default Disney could land the final blow with...

High School Musical 2 (and the first as well come to think of it). Now these are not films I would ever even consider watching, just thinking about the prospect makes me feel nauseous But the younger types seem to go mad over them and if it was marketed correctly (say a link to downloadable content for Singstar on the PS3) they would shift them by the truck load. Parents would want to buy the films to keep the sprogs happy. And as it's Disney and only available on Blu-ray () it should also help the sales of Blu-ray players too (both stand alone and more likely the PS3).

Just think about it. Forget about your Transformers, Star Wars, Lord Of the Rings, Alien etc. It could be High School Musical that finally lands the killer blow in the format war. A bunch of people poncing about singing, how embarrassing would that be for HD-DVD

I will watch HSM...

if it manages to kill off HD DVD.

Now I've really got myself between a rock and a hard place.

The true BD juggernaut for Disney would be The Lion King. It would be beyond huge. But if HS Musical 2 does it too, rock on.

Lion King would do well, but I think you would see Toy Story, Incredibles and Nemo all three out do Lion King.

HSM 2 is the modern day Grease which appeals to the female base. I don't see it going over great on blu, on SD it will crush.

I agree on this one...if Disney pulled out all their big guns, families would really think about going Blu-ray. However, I'm actually glad they haven't done so yet because:

1. They are doing an excellent job on their PQ/SQ and that quality is BY FAR the best I've seen on any HD format (I've seen the blockbusters of HD DVD at a friend's home).

2. My wallet could use a breather every now and again.

But I still agree with you.

Not to sound stupid but could a child really care if a movie is in HD or not. My daughter loves her movies even though some are still on VHS. Honestly I fail to see how a movie mad for kids is going to have impact on things. Anyway just my opinion.

You do have a choice, buy it on SD and let her watch it in the other room and save yourself $15.

This title doesn't appeal to mommy and daddy like Cars or Incredibles would, so unless your have mulitple blu units, why waist the money. Let them watch it upstairs again and again like their gonna want to.

high school musical 2 is on my wishlist. but it won't deal a final blow. right, girls loved zac efron (I know, my cousin is one of them), but most of them are probably sticking with DVD. Except you're technology freak, I don't see the reason of general public to adopt either HD DVD or BD

My 9 year old son loves HSM and anything Miley Cyrus. Have you seen the price of Hanna Montana tickets?

The quicker Disney can market these properties to Blu-ray, the faster the competition will die.

The true One-Two Knockout punch is this, so listen up Sony...

Get HDTVs into homes.

Market to the CHILDREN of potential buyers, and THEN to the buyers themselves. Americans spend STUPID money on their kids...and also use their kids as an excuse to get what they want as well....
