Default did i just blow something up??

just plugged in my rogers hi-def cable box. I've recently hooked up a new speaker system and all of my home theatre components into a power conditioner. I hooked the cable box up and watched it for about an hour when all of a sudden the speakers popped and than started squealing really loud. I still had a picture at this point but a minute later it went to a gray screen and my rogers box was screwed up. Am I using to much power for the line conditioner.

If you overlaoded the circuit then the breaker would trip within the the pwer conditioner or your breaker panel. It sounds like your rogers box overheated.
Is it in a well ventilated spot????
If it doesn't work again after cooling down then return it.
The other thing I would check is your home theater system. try playing a dvd or cd to make sure it isn't damaged somehow.
The last thing I would check is the power conditioner. It may be defective. Try bypassing it and see if everything works ok.
Hope that helps.
Good luck.

Yeah, go through a process of elimination - try the DVD player, receiver and anything else you have plugged into it. Try running the stuff on a regular outlet.

Best of luck man - hope it’s nothing major.

Something fried. I had that happen twice in the past with my Lexicon sound controller (installers fault). The Lex was placed in a cabinet without enough ventilaton, overheated, and sent pure power throughout my system. It was a very expensive lesson because most of my speakers melted. I don't know your specific situation, but I do know that heat is the enemy. The rest of the posters gave you good advice, and unfortuneately if it isnt a heat problem, then start with your audio/video controller (rogers?), and continue through a process of elimination. Good Luck.
