Default The next blow to HD DVD

now that our wallets are smoking and HD is reeling (from 300) what will be the next big strike?

The sooner the better.

I think a strong move would be another drop in Blu-Ray player prices.

I hope that standalone players would drop another $100 sometime soon for those who are waiting.

negative, but I'm sure we'll hear about it soon, it just stopped playing at the theaters around here. But as for the next big hit, I'd say spidey 3 and pirates 3.

No. But Fox would be stupid not to release their 2 biggest box office hits this year day and date with the DVD. The copy protection issue should be solved by October, so i think Fox will bring Die hard 4 to blu ray by the end of this year

The just-now announcement of the Spiderman trilogy shouldn't hurt us a bit . . . October 30th!

Maybe not as huge of a hit as Spiderman, but "Wild Hogs & Vacancy" are both Bluray exclusives. Out 8/14, Wild hogs did good at the box office, Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence & William H Macy. Very funny movie.

The fact that the 300 combo is having playback issues in some A1's and 360 addons means our wallets might not matter as much on this one.

I think that the Spidey HD trilogy would really do well also.
Pixar and Disney movies coming out.
FOX catching up.
BD players dropping in price by end of year.

Good one, nothing would hurt more than LOTR as a BD exclusive. That said, it's very unlikely you even hear plans of it before the holidays.

I think the next big hit will be Sony giving the BDP-S300 a price drop below the PS3.

Matrix collection on BD would hurt pretty bad too...

Weinstein going neutral. Although this is not a huge blow, it will definitely help in our favour. It will leave Universal as the single exclusive HD-DUD studio...

V for Vendetta should be out before Christmas, Batman Begins should be out before Christmas, perhaps T3 as well all catch up titles from Warner.
Still hope of The Matrix on Blu before Christmas as well.

Spidey 3 - I can't wait to see the top selling 10 titles from Nielsen. Even the aggregate one will probably have second place down at around 10.00 titles sold per 100.00 S3 if not less.

It's just going to be fun to watch for the rest of the year.
