Smile Dead Men Dont Wear Plaid

I'm thrilled to share that I'm enjoying another one of my favorite films from the 1980's on Blu-Ray....thanks to the country of ITALY! DEAD MEN DON'T WEAR PLAID. Being the serious and impatient movie lover I am, I'll go to great lengths to obtain my favorite movies on the greatest format ever! I know the U.S. will probably finally get around to releasing it eventually...and that's fine! I'll keep and continue watching & enjoying my REGION B copy from ITALY and "upgrade" later after the U.S. finally gets around to releasing it here!

Actually rkolinski, the movie was purposely filmed in black & white, but despite no color, the picture & sound is definitely Blu-Ray quality and worth the extra effort to obtain for any other movie buffs as "desperate" as I to own they're favorite movies on Blu-Ray!

Great movie, for sure. Is the audio lossless surround, or stereo?
How would you rate the PQ from 5/5?

I haven't noticed any loss of audio whatsoever with the disc/presentation. However, the audio options on the disc are: Italian 5.0 and 2.0-while the english spoken version is only available in 2.0! The film was produced back in 1982, so surround sound still wasn't the huge thing it is today! I'm just thrilled to death to OWN this classic on BLU-RAY!!!

Is the English soundtrack really just Dolby Digital 2.0? If so, that's not sufficent for me, but I am happy for you. (It says so here:
http://www.amazon.de/mistero-del-cad...27t+wear+plaid

Also, I had no idea this was a Rob Reiner movie. Quite versatile that man.

Such a fun film and even if I didnt like it glad you were able to source it from another country it seems I do that a lot as some old favourites don't get released in Australia

You something I dislike if I can hijack this thread it that when you go to a store and ask for a lesser well known movie they look at you as if you are speaking a foreign language yet mention big budget action blockbuster and they have a million copies

That's not what "lossless" audio means. He's asking if the English track is LPCM, Dolby TrueHD, or DTS-HD Master Audio versus Dolby Digital.

Actually, it was directed by his dad, Carl Reiner!

There's already a thread for this in the Italy forum. Someone there confirmed that the audio is a mono track expanded to 2-channels for the DD 2.0.

Thanks for the info...and letting us aware of the other thread. My posting here was just to express how happy I am that I can watch & own this classic comedy on BLU-RAY.

Yeah, I ordered this back in January from Amazon.it, but it never arrived. I'm now trying to get Amazon to respond to what's going on, but I have feeling this is not going to turn out well.

They showed it shipped and was expected to arrive last Monday. Of course, this is Amazon.it, not just Amazon. They're now telling me they won't take any action until after May 3. WTF?! I guess a 5 month delivery window is considered normal in Italy.

DVD Beaver did a review of this title including screencaps. This is a classic favourite of mine too. So many hilarious lines - "I hadn't seen a body that put together since I'd solved the case of the murdered girl with the big tits"

I also recently imported the Italian Blu-ray of DEAD MEN DON'T WEAR PLAID.

The best thing for me - aside from the obvious upgrade in picture quality - is the fact that this transfer is framed differently. It's not as much zoomed in and shows more picture information than the one on the US DVD (especially at the lower picture frame). This way the picture is much more balanced and pleasing to look at. Recommended.

Finally received my copy Saturday. Man, this movie still cracks me up. It's so well done and remains one of my top five comedies with some of the best running gags and some of the funniest lines committed to film. Martin was made for this part. I only wish it had 5.1 surround like in the Italian dubbed version.
