Kino has announced a street date of November 24th, 2015 for this wonderfully entertaining Canadian chiller. Genre experts have a high regard for the 3-D fantasy scenes, which have been restored to their original quality for this release.

Head up if you care about the anaglyph version of the film and want the red / green glasses. They don't fit in the disc case and you have to buy them from Kino directly.
Otherwise looks like a stellar release. http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film5/blu-r...3D_blu-ray.htm Below pasted from HTF but I can't see why anyone cannot order a pair. For those who purchased THE MASK on Blu-ray but wish to obtain a pair of the anaglyph 3-D glasses (replicas of those given out upon the film’s original theatrical release), Kino Lorber is making a limited quantity available to Home Theater Forum members via US Mail. The cost is $3.00 (postage included). Because quantities are extremely limited, the offer is limited to one pair of glasses per person. Send a check or money order (sorry, no credit card orders accepted) for $3.00 to: Attn: Mask Glasses Kino Lorber Corp. 333 West 39th Street, #503 New York, NY 10018 Expect four weeks for delivery. Available in US/Canada only. Available for a limited time only — once our supply of glasses is depleted, an announcement will be made here and the offer will be ended. |

Just to clarify the 3D on the BD & DVD editions.
BD has the complete film in 3D Z& 2D, but the no 3D complete version of the anaglyph version. Just the 3D segaments are included in anaglyph as an extra on the BD. The DVD has the complete feature with 3D sequences in anaglyph and a pair of red/green glssses to view the 3D with. It as previously assumed there was a complete version of the film with 3D anaglyph on the BD, and this turns out not to be the case. As the BD does nto inclede the galsses, this makes some sense. |

The DVD has some commercial break 3d anaglyph footage featuring magician Harry Blackstone that is on the DVD but not on the 3d bluray. |

The BD also has an audio commentary track, a 21 minute documentary about director Julian Roffman, and a couple of short animated films.

They did, on the BD. Not everyone that is interested in the release has a 3D TV though.
And I didn't mention the other BD extras as Kino has been clear about communicating them. It's this fuzzy issue with the anaglyph 3D and the glasses I was hoping to clarify. |

I believe that you have clarified it.
Kino's own text on the back cover of their Blu-ray is somewhat less than definitive regarding the availability of the 3-D sequences in anaglyph format. |

I watched this tonight and very much enjoyed it. It wasn't my first viewing. This used to play on Canadian specialty channels back in the old days before the people running these stations realized they could fill the day with non-stop reruns of FRIENDS and TWO AND A HALF MEN.
After watching it, I started to watch it again so that I could listen to the commentary track. Unfortunately, shortly into the commentary I was stopped in my tracks by a glaring error on the part of the dufus doing the commentary. Jason Pichonsky is purported to be a "film historian" and, incredibly, a "film maker" based in Toronto. I was dumbfounded when he referred to the iconic Mordecai Richler novel and movie as The Apprenticeship of Dudley Kravitz. I had to replay that section to make sure my ears weren't playing tricks on me. As a Canadian, I don't know if the novel and movie (the Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz) are well-known outside of Canada. However, for anybody claiming to have even a bare minimum of Canadian film (or literary) knowledge to actually say "Dudley" Kravitz is a mind-boggling error. Perhaps Mr. Pichonsky was confusing Duddy Kravitz with that other famous Canadian: Dudley Do-Right. Mordecai Richler was a towering figure in modern Canadian literature. I consider him to be our greatest novelist ever. The movie is one of the most important pieces of Canadian cinema history. It was embarrassingly obvious that "film historian" Jason Pichonsky had neither read the novel nor seen the movie. That wouldn't be a crime...unless you claimed to be a Canadian film historian doing a commentary track for a Canadian film. It seemed as if he was reading notes that he got from the internet. Basically, it was a wikipedia-based, trivia track. Well, I can read wikipedia myself and be spared Pichonsky's lame effort. |

The track goes into plenty of extensive detail, and for you to dismiss the entire thing as a wikipedia read you could have made yourself is laughable.
I get the added L in DUDDY upset you but I did not even notice this and thought the track was very well done and informative about the Canadian industry, and the actors and technicians who made the film. |

For a Canadian film historian to say the words "Dudley Kravitz" would be the equivalent of an American film historian to speak of the movie "Citizen Krane". It's the most basic of Canadian film facts. If you don't know the name of the single most famous character in Canadian cinema history, you shouldn't be doing commentaries on Canadian movies. Once you screw-up something so simple and well-known, then everything else becomes suspect. |
