Default Toshiba gets F rating from the BBB!

Toshiba America Hits "F" Rating With BBB

Wow.

Naturally the trolls countered with this:

^^
Doesn't really surprise me, either.

Although at least I can avoid Sony with Blu-Ray, I can't avoid Toshiba if I want HD-DVD.

There's a little problem there.

Bingo! That's why if HD DVD doesn't get more CE support they will fail.

On the BBB site itself it says Toshiba is not rated.

Also, the number of complaints in 36 months is less than 100 for Sony and more than 500 for Toshiba...

Yeah, I've never been a fan of anything Toshiba. I used to work in a computer service department and I hated working with their warranty and parts ordering folks. I had an external floppy drive that was bad and under warranty and they freaking shipped me all of the individual components to build the drive. I had like 42 part requests (including individual screws) to put this thing together with, and to make matters worse they shipped me 3 wrong screws. Luckily I was able to find some that fit.

So, yeah, this doesn't surprise me at all.

Geez, if 100 in THREE YEARS scores an 'F' for Sony, then what does 500 equate to? That's five times an F... So, a Z minus? I don't have serious issues with Toshiba - but you definitely (will) have a few more options with Blu-ray. Heck, Sony isn't even one of your options yet!

It's important that the BBB link there refers to the computer side of Toshiba, not the HT side. Note the specific designator?

It's going to be in very short order, though.

LOL, you make it sound like the Sony standalone player and PS3 are years away vs. the less than two months away.

I would rate my original brought back HD-A1 with a Z.
My current RCA deserves at least a T or something....as it only has about 3/4the problems that occur about 50% less often.

Can you imagine the rating on these things if the masses were buying:

There's someone that posts here and on two other forums who was touting the hell out of Toshiba's PC strengths and the rest of it, and coming down on me and others when we were expressing our less than glowing enthusiasm about the company a few months ago.

Here's a dialogue that just happened this morning on another forum. I'm not going to name him outright, just to give him a graceful cue here. If he wants to jump in, fine.

Regulars around here will probably know within seconds who this was that wrote this:

The BBB rating comes from Toshiba's computing products namely their laptops. I don't think this really factors into Robert's arena as Toshiba likely has two very seperate divisions handling computers and Home Entertainment.

That's arguably even more disturbing, since the PC side of Toshiba is supposed to be their strong suit.

You, for one, have been touting them for many months across several forums on that strength, and yet we see this?

Yeah there aren't many computer companies who I would feel very safe about doing business with Toshiba and Dell namely come to mind. This news is of no surpise to me as we had tons of problems getting toshiba tvs back from service when i used to work at a best buy.

Yeah...Sure seems like years away ever since they postponed it.
