Still ultra early for that. I'm sure that the numbers will be announced if positive, but sit back and wait until Friday. Should be interesting.

You'll have to wait at least a few more days if not right til Friday. I don't see it beating Transformers though. Personally, I liked the movie, but almost everyone else I know didn't really enjoy it.

If the situation was different, Pirates 1 being in movie theatres this year and now coming on BD then I could see it beating Transformers, not a second sequel of pirates. (Im sure Transformers sequels releases wouldn't do as well as the first did)

I don't know why you can't just accept it as a good direct comparison. They're two movies on competing formats. If it loses, it loses, if it wins, it wins, that simple. I don't mean to take it out on you but sometimes I find it a little ridiculous when people are grasping for straws in trying to prove Blu's superiority. Just understand that Blu is unbelievably better and it will win.

Agreed, but it's been up for pre-order forever. I've had it pre-ordered for months. So, a lot of the pre-orders have been spaced out over time.

That isn't a valid metric right now. When TF came out the overall volume was extremely long and it was far easier to dominate the rankings. Now we are in the holiday swing with far greater volume and it will be impossible to dominate in the same way. The Amazon rankings do not necessarily mean that the nominal units will not be higher for POTC.

Well, I thought both Transformers and Pirates: AWE were both badass. I would have bought transformers on Blu if it were available but i got it on DVD so it'll do for now. And Pirates, I'm getting it for x-mas.

I seriously don't know how someone can be comparing Pirates 3 with Superbad...

Superbad is probably one of the worst comedies I have seen in the last two years....I couldn't get past 45 mins of it..ugghh...the language in that movie was completely unacceptable. It's sad to me that my 13 yr old has friends at school who have seen this...he was waiting for us to watch it to see if he could see it...I seriously just laughed at him. Seriously disgusting...

If kids think that this kind of movie constituates what is acceptable behaviour from boys...think again..completely lacking in taste and morals on every level.

I own both, and just watched AWE this weekend and have to say they need to put the franchise to bed, but surely will not as it is a gauranteed revenue/profit stream. AWE was a hulking turd ball and was way too long. I had high hopes for this one, but looking back, the second one was kinda fluff also. I was let down by AWE, but maybe they will redeem themselves with 4?

I don't know anything about how the Blu-Ray is selling.

But, I know as of last week, first day sales were tracking so well on DVD that the film was well on track to be the number 1 film of the year on home video. Higher than Transformers. And nearly on par with DMC (ever so slightly below). So, well, yeah. If the DVD sales mean anything to BD, then the BD should sell well.
