Crimson Peak $31 million (del Toro fans will show and it should play well with women and in Latino-heavy areas)
Bridge of Spies $17 million (opening will probably be light but it will hold, Hanks and Spielberg should allow it to play into the beginning of the Holidays) Goosebumps $14 million (Hotel Transylvania 2 already served the kid audience and there's not much in the way of older appeal) Woodlawn $3 million (a Pure Flix title that isn't God's Not Dead + one of the most tired sub-genres in inspirational football movie = flop) |

Goosebumps will take the weekend easily. That book series has a much larger following than people realize. I think Bridge of Spies will be second, then comes Crimson Peak and Woodlawn.
I think Crimson Peak will have better legs than any of these films, due to the observance of the witches sabbat. |

Crimson Peak takes it not only because Universal has been pushing the hell out of it but because its one of the very few Horror movies were getting this year in October aside from Paranormal Activity 5 or 6? (I lost count).

Thinking Crimson Peak and Bridge of Spies will underwhelm, but CP should come out on top then quickly fall, and BoS will probably have a good hold these coming weeks. The Martian in third place and Goosebumps will probably flop.

When I went to see Pan earlier today, I saw that my theater had The Visit and Mission Impossible in 2 of the huge auditoriums. I thought that was odd especially since The Martian is a huge hit.

Crimson Peak looks like it'll be very hit or miss.
I say that because on one hand it could be a bigger hit than anyone thought. While it could also be a bomb like Pan was. Though I guess you could say the same for Goosebumps. but that has a more likely chance to succeed being PG. |
