Default Ridiculous 6-Adam Sandler, Taylor Lauter-Western Comedy

Via TheWrap
Quote:
Adam Sandler has lined up a ridiculous cast for “Ridiculous 6,” a Happy Madison production that will be the first film under his groundbreaking deal with Netflix, TheWrap has learned.

According to insiders close to the project, Sandler will star alongside “Grown Ups 2″ frat boy Taylor Lautner, three-time Oscar nominee Nick Nolte, “The Voice” judge Blake Shelton and comedian Whitney Cummings, as well as Happy Madison regulars Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider, Dan Aykroyd, Will Forte, Nick Swardson, Terry Crews, Jon Lovitz and Vanilla Ice, the latter of whom stole several scenes in “That’s My Boy.”
The cast is also expected to include Luke Wilson, Steve Zahn, Danny Trejo, “Saturday Night Live” alum Chris Parnell and “Breaking Bad’s” Lavell Crawford, according to sources.

I would hardly call that cast "ridiculous" Nolte is the only real surprise, and it's going to take more than that to make me tune in to another Sandler movie.

Seems about par the course for Sandler's recent output...But it's a big step forward for Netflix doing film's like this. Their TV series are already wildly popular, and now they can do that with film as well...But this just sounds like typical Sandler. I was hoping for more.

This is going to be on Netflix. Sandler's flicks are some of the most watched on the streaming service. Box office doesn't even qualify here.

Warner Bros. was going to make this but put it into turnaround after Blended flopped.

Meanwhile, I'm surprised Nick Nolte agreed to do this. And I was kind of hoping Sandler would come to his senses and stop making these "in it for the money" roles and remember why people liked him in the first place (and his cameo in Top Five showed he can still be funny). That and make another Punch-Drunk Love.

Yeah, this has nothing to do with the plot and everything to do with Sandler.

The only Snadler movie I haven't enjoyed has been Jack and Jill. What a POS. Grown Ups 2 was bad but at least it had somewhat funny moments. I'm hoping this Netflix deal makes him "try" again.

I seriously need to know if Sandler has a copy of a snuff film which features Steve Buscemi murdering someone, and he uses it to blackmail Buscemi into being in his films.

On the other hand, I hear that all the on screen charisma and acting skill and any sense of comedic timing that he lacks, he compensates for by being a super nice guy in real life. So maybe Steve just likes hanging out with him.

So it's a comedy version of Tarantino's Hateful 8?

It's actually a comedic version of The Magnificent Seven. The script I believe was written before The Hateful Eight.

Yeah, cause A Million Ways To Die In The West really killed it at the Box office.

And I honestly don't have a problem with Sandler. I've liked just all of them.

The Ridiculous 6:

Hopefully this being on Netflix lets Sandler go all out on this one.

Native Americans walkoff set.

Quote:
Netflix is now facing a potential media issue surrounding Adam Sandler's western comedy THE RIDICULOUS SIX. Part of a four film deal between the actor and the streaming movie service, THE RIDICULOUS SIX follows Sandler as a white man raised from childhood by Native Americans. In typical Happy Madison fashion, hijinks ensue. Featuring a cast that includes David Spade, Terry Crews, Taylor Lautner, Nick Nolte, Will Forte, Steve Buscemi, Danny Trejo, Luke Wilson, Rob Schneider, Steve Zahn, Jorge Garcia, Nick Swardson, Chris Parnell, Jon Lovitz, Whitney Cummings, Norm MacDonald, Blake Shelton as Wyatt Earp, Lavell Crawford as Lavall Patch, Vanilla Ice as Mark Twain, Dan Aykroyd, and David Spade as General Custer, THE RIDICULOUS SIX sounds like it would actually be worth seeing. But, some Native Americans don't agree.

Statements reported on Indian Country Today Media claim that the film is derogatory to Native Americans and includes female characters with insulting names.

The examples of disrespect included Native women’s names such as Beaver’s Breath and No Bra, an actress portraying an Apache woman squatting and urinating while smoking a peace pipe, and feathers inappropriately positioned on a teepee.

Production has been in full swing since February and will be continuing through this month. It seems odd that the issues would be raised now, but Netflix has released a statement in response to the accusations.

“The movie has ridiculous in the title for a reason: because it is ridiculous. It is a broad satire of Western movies and the stereotypes they popularized, featuring a diverse cast that is not only part of — but in on — the joke.”

Native American sensitivity has been a hot button topic in recent years related to sports franchises like the Washington Redskins. Seth MacFarlane's A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST featured Native American characters but there did not appear to be any uproar like this for that production. Whether this turns into an issue or not remains to be seen, but it does deserve to be mentioned that only some of the performers left filming while others stayed.

Someone is offended by something? Must be one of those days that ends in Y. People need to regrow their sacks.
