Default Canadian Future Shop & Best Buy

As far as I can see, Canadian stores have not drop their prices on the blu-ray players that have recently dropped. This pisses me off, our dollar is up but everything still cost the same??? I've noticesd that on some items they will match the US price and call it a huge sale. I bet they are saving the price drop for boxing day. "On sale: $299 Blu-ray player" ... but thats what it cost.

Yeah, I've been trying to avoid the Best Buy and Futureshop at Dundas Square in Toronto. Even Blu-ray movie prices have not evened out. I've heard it's because the product's are actually made here, so they have always been on par with the American prices. What a crock. Video game prices came down... a bit, and those are made here as well.

WTF? Do we even have a BD factory here. I bet not. Have we been lied to????

Easy man, demand they match the price or go elsewhere.

Works for me, got my Onkyo for 399 I recall that matched the price for the american amazon. I will not buy anything where the US price and Canadian price are not equal anymore.

Fight the power!!!

i still see them raising the prices of items and calling it a Last Minute sale.. for example the current "sale" of Ipod Touch 8gbs for $329.. i bought one a few days ago for $299 from them

a couple weeks ago a Linksys wrt54gs was being sold for the "low price of $199" its a $65 router -_-

Consumers do have the power.

Another thing to try, take an american ad with price to a local furniture/electronics store and make them match the price as well. May be easier than convincing FS or BB to do so. Around here, all the mom and pop electronics/furniture stores carry alot of the same stuff as FS/BB and can be 'dealt' with on prices.

What annoys me is that the HD DVD players ARE roughly the same as the US prices, at least for the lowest 1080i model, so there's a huge price gap which no longer exists in the US.

Best Buy & Futureshop do not set MSRP, CE does

Samsung lowered the MSRP of the 1400 to 399$, 100$ short of the US price.
Panasonic 30k is 100$ more than it's US Price (599$)
Sony haven't made the move yet...

Here a good example.

The Panasonic AE2000 1080p projector have a sell price of 3999$+15% taxes here in canada.

You can import it from Projectorpeople.com for 2599$ (cost about 3100$ once taxed and everything)

Panasonic Canada operates at arms length from Panasonic International since they are wholly owned.

With respect to Sony pjs - the VW60 comes in at the same MRSP as the U.S. Dealer cost might be different.
