Fruit Ninja Movie In The Works.

According to THR, Vinson Films and Halfbrick Studios are teaming up to create a movie based on the hit Fruit Ninja franchise, The film is going to be a live-action family comedy, but no other plot points are known. For those unfamiliar with the game, Fruit Ninja has players swiping across their mobile phones, tablets, and TV sized touch screens (Dave and Busters) attempting to slice pieces of fruit as they get thrown in the air. Your goal is to get a high score without hitting the bombs that get thrown in at random intervals, and how they are going to turn that premise into a film is really anyone's guess.

Still, the game is immensely popular, to the tune of 1 billion downloads, a number to which I've contributed. Fruit Ninja will join Angry Birds in making the leap to the big screen, but no release date or filming target date has been released thus far.

I thought Angry Birds couldn't work as a movie, but you know what? I was wrong. It was VERY funny in places and pretty cool most of the time. So you know what? I'm gonna give this Fruit Ninja a chance.

Wreck It Ralph and Lego Movie pretty much eliminated any scepticism I had about what could or couldn't work as a movie.

Wreck-It Ralph wasn't an adaptation of a plotless game and the Lego Movie allowed for a blank canvas, however.

Fruit Ninja is just a cell phone game where you swipe at fruit.

yeah, and Angry Birds is a cell phone game where you slingshot birds at pigs that came 7 years ago, but here we are.

It's funny to me that people bemoan the lack of creativity in movies. I guarantee that it takes a shit load of creativity to turn emojie or fruit ninja into a feature length script.

As much angst and moaning as this is sure to inspire, realistically there's two outcomes here: it's bad enough that I ignore it and it doesn't affect my life in any way, or it's surprisingly good and I enjoy it
