Default The War now - Blu-ray vs. DVD

Now that Blu-ray has delivered a critical blow to HD DVD in the high definition format war, the real battle begins. Blu-ray vs. DVD for all the marbles. I believe that this consideration was what pushed Warner over the top in going Blu-ray exclusive. Unlike Microsoft they wanted a physical medium replacing dvd as dvd sales have peaked. There is only so many times you can sell the same catalog of movies on dvd to the same customers.

HDTV penetration growth will be a crucial factor for how successful Blu-ray can be. But I don't see it as a long term problem as HDTVs are becoming vastly more popular as they come down in price.

I think people here should get the word out to interested friends that their dvds will be obsolete like VHS soon enough. We need to encourage the decline of the dvd medium as fast as possible. Blu-ray is the future and the future is today.
