Default Up the Junction (Peter Collinson)

Cracking film

Up the Junction Blu-ray

NEWS
https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=12813

Quote:
Olive Films will release on Blu-ray director Peter Collinson's drama Up the Junction (1968), starring Suzy Kendall, Dennis Waterman, Maureen Lipman, Liz Fraser, and Linda Cole. The release will be available for purchase on April 29th.

Iconic 1960s 'kitchen sink' drama based on the novel by Nell Dunn. When Polly (Suzy Kendall) becomes weary of her privileged life in Chelsea, she decides to move to a working class community in Battersea. She soon gets a job at a candy factory where she makes some new friends and begins a relationship with working class boy, Peter (Dennis Waterman), who dreams of leaving Battersea and becoming rich.

Yeah I just ordered the DVD of this in a recent Amazon UK haul. Was on a Suzy Kendall kick....grabbed a film called Assault with her starring in it too. Haven't got to watch either yet though.

Ditto, this is yet another film I had only known about through the soundtrack album and had always been curious about. & Suzy Kendall, I always had a thing for women with that kind of protruding mouth. Was going to wait for a review, but the "cracking film" endorsement means I'll probably have to get this.

Yes. He did not write the theme tune, though:

Sorry, I always think of this when I think of Dennis Waterman.

I saw this film first-run back in the late sixties. I'm sorry to say that I recall very little about it. I think it was about young working class people and their problems, but that's all I recall. I might be interested in seeing it again, after so long.

I was not to sure about this title. However, Pro-B recommends it and JMK rates the movie 3.5/5. Looks like I will make a purchase .

After seeing Fellini's 8½ at a theatrical screening last week and then looking at the first two screenshots for this Up the Junction review, I had to double-check and make sure that this was not the actress (Anouk Aimée) who played Luisa in the Fellini film. These are different actresses, but...wow...they look a lot alike.

Such a shame there are no bonus features. I may just hold out and hope there will be a uk release!

Well worth watching just to see the grim but vibrant streets of swinging London in the 60s.

I actually finally got this Bluray yesterday and I was really impressed with the quality. I live in Battersea where it is set and it is so nice to see the old Battersea which has changed a lot. I love how they filmed in a lot of buildings that were about to be demolished!

Pity it is a barebones release but excellent nonetheless!
