Why would '300' so grainy?

I know this has been asked many times, but can someone give me a quick answer. Did the director even approve of this? and do directors even go to these transfers(remasters into blu-ray)? do they even check the quality afterwards?
It doesn't look like it for '300'.

It's a filter the director put in the film to make it more dirty and plus there is a TON of CG. Nothing to do with the transfer it's how the films supposed to look.

Director's intent. Since film was CGI, the grain was digitally applied, it's not really there, added so it would give the impression of flipping through the pages of the original graphic novel.

Some movies are just grainy, just cause it's high def doesn't mean every single movie is perfection.

The director intended it that way, or it wouldn't be there. Watch Pirates 1. It is not a function of the movie, it is how it was shot...
