“MYSTERIOUS ISLAND”
The Encore Edition
Limited Edition BLU-RAY Release

Once they are gone – they are gone!
RELEASE DATE: TUESDAY, DECEMBER 8TH, 2015

“Dandy fantasy adventure, done with great skill and imagination, keyed by a fine Bernard Herrmann score, a pip of this kind.”
—The New York Times

“It should thrill the gee-whillickers out of anybody." —Time Magazine

Mysterious Island (1961) – Jules Verne’s sequel to his own “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea” – is brought to the screen in spectacular fashion by director Cy Endfield (Zulu) and special effects master Ray Harryhausen (Jason and the Argonauts), who weave the adventure-packed tale of a motley crew of Civil War escapees and shipwreck victims cast away on a remote Pacific isle. There they encounter the redoubtable mad genius, Captain Nemo (Herbert Lom), and the startling products of his scientific experiments: gigantic creatures of every description, all crafted with that special brand of Harryhausen magic. Presented in a pristine new transfer, with Bernard Herrmann’s superlative score featured as an isolated track.

When they say "pristine new transfer" they mean a newer than the previous one?
Or maybe that part in the text is a copy of the first release announcement?

Pretty sure Fright Night and Journey to the Center of the Earth both had new transfers when re-issued. Something was at least tweaked with FN.

I'm expecting something like Fright Night where both releases were from the 4K scan but they just looked a little different.

The previous Mysterious Island was already mastered in 4K by Sony, so the new Blu-ray should look very close to the old one.

Fright Night wasn't a new transfer.
They had just brightened up the image:

The new Fright Night was from the same 4K master as the old edition except it was slightly brighter and some noticed compression problems.

The first edition of Journey to the Center of the Earth was from a DVD master and the re-issue was from a brand new 4K master.

It was a new transfer, just not a new remaster like JTTCOTE.

The previous release of MYSTERIOUS ISLAND also had the Bernard Herrmanns score isolated.

I missed out on this and a number of other TT movies so I'll be waiting and watching out for this one I would think it would be harder to get than todays pre-order. I've been putting my Ray Harryhausen collection together gradually, this is one of the movies I watched around 5 years ago, before my time this one but I do enjoy some older classics. There will always be something great about Ray's effects, got to respect how hard it was to execute and deliver.

Screenarchives is customs friendly provided you don't use Registered or Express Mail, use the standard post at the end of checkout, they say it's at your own risk if it goes missing though when you pick that option. Seems there have been some abusers from the looks of it. I've had a few orders, they usually mark them down $3 per disc, I keep my order number down to a few movies, to help it on it's way, SAE also mention to keep it a low number.

The mystery thickens.
