Not only is it original poster art, but it is a good representation of the film itself.

This is what indiewire states about the image

Quote:
If you were to sum up the movies of Charlie Kaufman in a single picture, the image of an existentially-plagued middle-aged man looking into the mirror at his own somber soul might be the winner, which makes the striking new poster for "Anomalisa" a beautiful and melancholy snapshot for the feature.

It should also be noted, that this could merely be a placeholder image and not final, though I do hope it is.

Perfect cover art, which is actually a frame from the film. Can't wait to watch this again.

It's starting to roll out into more theaters as we speak. We're getting it here in Indianapolis this coming Friday (1/22) for example. Especially now that it's Oscar nominated, it should get easier to find. I can't wait to see it.

Can't say I was a fan. The animation style was unique, the vocal performances of Thewlis and Leigh were great and the sex scene was excellent but I find most of it dreary and aimless for the most part. I was also a little mystified as to why the film had to be in stop-motion in the first place. I was hoping that in the format Kaufman went with, he'd cut loose and show some seriously trippy visuals but that really didn't come (save for the
[Show spoiler]nightmare sequence
, which was pretty cool).

I was also bothered by the "everyone has the same voice and face" thing that went on in the movie. It said something to me about the lead character when his own son exhibits this in the film, which kind of gave me the implication that he doesn't even like own child.

But to those who haven't seen the film, I hope you enjoy it more than I did.

[Show spoiler]Everyone has the same face and is voiced by Noonan because Michael lost touch with himself and others to the point of extreme inner isolation. He was basically dead inside. When he finally met Lisa she was the only unique voice (aside from the Asian doll) and that is what caused him to fall so hard for her, but then after getting her into bed the first night, he quickly started to see flaws in her that caused her voice to start becoming like everyone else's. I'm sure you got all of that, but I reiterated it to lead to my opinion that the whole point of it being in stop-motion was to make it easier and less expensive to have the same face on everyone. It was also more subtle and less distracting than it would've been in live action, allowing you to get past it and get into the actual nuances of the story.

I was listening to an interview with Kaufman and the reason behind the stop motion was that this film actually started as an audio play with an emphasis on voice. The reason it hadn't been made into a film as long as it hadn't was because he felt it wouldn't suit the nature of film until Duke Johnson approached him about doing it as an animated film so that everyone could look different but have the same voice

I reckon I'm going to blind-buy this. Kaufman hasn't let me down yet. I'm unsure about a film with puppets but I'll try and roll with it.

Can't believe it's been so long since 'Synecdoche, NY' came out. I hope we don't have to wait as long for Kaufman's next project.

The release date is now June 7 apparently.

Anyway, I just saw this today. Very interesting and quite beautiful, but it's not as strong as Kaufman's other work to me.

Was this released digitally today?

I was just browsing the films offered via On Demand and was surprised to see this listed for rental. I also checked Amazon and it can be rented there, too.

It seems Walmart has an exclusive for this.

It doesn't say what it is, however

Hmmm, very weird. This movie was not a blockbuster nor even a movie that would appeal to their type of customer. Maybe they (Walmart) think this is some sort of Teenage Mutant Turtles sequel.
