Germany Wicked Vision

Some cheap titles on their website, including Hatchet for the Honeymoon, Cadillac Man, The Return of Count Yorga, Ferpect Crime, Die Monster Die, Deranged, The Brood, The Flesh and Blood Show, and several Full Moon releases. Most of their releases are English friendly including on extras (many newly produced), except the odd commentary that is German language without subtitles. They also offer international shipping.

One of the best Boutique labels in Germany. Lovingly prepared editions, most even including English subs. Buy with confidence.

Usually takes around 7-10 days max for German post to make it to the UK.

I'm certainly interested in this title, as there's no sign yet of a UK label doing a release of it and The Organization, as well as In the Heat of the Night being released by Criterion's UK branch.

Wicked-Vision will be releasing The Night Porter in 4K UHD

https://www.facebook.com/wickedvisio...00141900089656

Quote:
Dear visioneers,
on this beautiful Friday evening we turn to you with a very special announcement. This summer, in collaboration with Weltkino, we will release the classic film TH NIGHT PORTER as a German DVD, Blu-ray and for the first time worldwide UHD premiere. Experience Liliana Cavanis groundbreaking masterpiece as a strictly limited 3-disc deluxe edition with partly brand new and exclusive bonus material.
THE NIGHT PORTER made leading actress Charlotte Rampling (ANGLE HEART, RED SPARROW) a global star overnight and depicts the sadomasochistic relationship of a concentration camp survivor with her former SS tormentor. When the film was released in the summer of 1974, Italian prosecutors declared it immoral. The copies were confiscated, and the film was banned by the censors. The film industry then organized a one-day strike. Several directors, including Luchino Visconti, lobbied for the film's release. It was finally declared to be a work of art in a court case.
More info about the set will follow shortly.
Btw: Main actor Dirk Bogarde would have been 100 years old tomorrow Sunday.

I probably came across the Wicked-Vision release of the Vincent Price-starring Madhouse last year, but forgot about it, despite the KL release on-and-off appearing in my mind, it being on the list of Blu-ray horror film titles I've wanted to get. It seems the KL release is becoming harder to find (out-of-print now?). There hasn't been a UK release that I know of, so remembering again about the Wicked-Vision release has been helpful. I'd also like to know how it compares to the KL release.

The documentary will be first included on a forthcoming Diary of a Madman BD, and later as a stand-alone release.

Also announced are forthcoming Blu-ray’s for The Abominable Dr Phibes, Dr Phibes Rises Again, Theatre of Blood, Madhouse and House of the Long Shadows.

Source is a Instagram video by director Sam Irwin who was interviewed for the documentary:

Germany Schizo and Diary of a Madman (Wicked Vision titles)

When visiting Wicked Vision's Wicked Shop website yesterday, I noticed that they're doing a release of the Pete Walker-directed Schizo (fellow boutique label 88 Films are including Schizo in their planned Pete Walker Horror boxset). Based on the Wicked Shop website, there will be five mediabook covers, with a release date of three weeks today (Thursday 29th February).

Interested in maybe getting one of Wicked Vision's mediabook covers for the Vincent Price-starring Diary of a Madman (there is a separate Germany discussion thread for the film as well like one or two other Wicked Vision releases).

Germany Wicked Vision discussion thread

Unless it's staring me in the face, have done a Germany sub-forum thread search and can't find an existing thread for boutique label Wicked Vision, so hopefully it's fine to start a thread like the existing ones for other German boutique labels (if the thread title needs to be to be updated, then I'll ask).

Germany They Call Me Mister Tibbs! and The Organization (Wicked Vision)

Does anyone here have Wicked Vision's Blu-ray releases of They Call Me Mister Tibbs! and The Organization, and if so, how are the transfers and audio? Is the featurette on each release English friendly? Below are the links to both releases on Wicked Vision's website, the Blu-ray.com links and the rear sleeve artwork (source of the rear sleeve artwork for both releases is their Amazon.de listing pages):

One other question about the above releases: do they begin with the original United Artists opening logo, or they the same as on Kino Lorber's US release(s) where they open with a later United Artists logo instead?

Hahaha, I am loving this wording. For non-German speakers who are wondering about this: Wicked Vision usually does an audio commentary that they produce by themselves for their releases. Sometimes its with someone from the label (Daniel Perée or Laruent Ohmansiek) that was working on the release or has a special fondness of the movie, and all of the time they invite some well known German movie scientists, (like Dr. Naumann, Dr. Gießen, Prof. Stiglegger and others), who are famous experts in the German movie community, and who elaborate on the historical context the movie was made in.

I can see how international buyers would love to have these with subtitles though. But keep in mind, these labels are rather small, especially compared to the international market; so subtitling everything into English is a huge cost for them, and one that doesn't pay off if there's just a couple of international customers (which is a shame, because some of these commentaries are extremely good and I wished that more people could enjoy them; some of their weaker titles are still in my collection just because I enjoyed the commentary so much that I found it was worth keeping in the collection ).

Without meaning to offend anyone, and especially not Wicked Vision a label that I very much like, but I would argue that you rarely miss out on anything when you can't listen to the audio commentaries from these guys. They have of course lots of knowledge in their fields, and are very qualified to talk and discuss all topics film. But it's tiresome that you find for example Stiglegger on nearly 90% German genre releases in audio commentaries or the booklets. You can't be an expert on everything. So his approach often goes from being scientific and detailed to a more popular scientific approach that speaks to a more general audience. Sometimes even a very wikipedia like approach. This may fit for a Studio release, but not so much for a genre boutique release that mostly aficionados go for. It's like when Kat Ellinger would do 90% of the English speaking output. She's an expert I highly enjoy to listen to, but she approaches only topics where she can go scientific and detailed on, and not just every film in existence.

If you're a German (boutique) label you are of course very much limited in the selection of people that can, and are willing to do, audio commentary in comparison to the English speaking options around the world. But with Wicked Vision for example, I very much like when Daniel or Laurent (label owner/employee) do the audio commentary. They are experts on their own, but I expect a different approach than what the Professor want to offer us, and this approach I can much more enjoy.

Has anyone here got Wicked-Vision's Blu-ray release of Student Bodies? How is the transfer and audio? I can see some listings in the database here (it's available on Amazon.de), but on Wicked-Vision's website, unless it's not listed on there it must be staring me in the face.

Yep, I got my copy a couple of weeks ago. It was actually listed for pre-order on Feb. 23rd., three different covers, plus a funny set (limited to 100 copies) where you could get a horse bookend. But I guess they've completely sold out the "non bookend" quota. I can only find the bookend, which is still combineable with all three cover variants, if that's something you might be interested in? https://www.wicked-shop.com/en/set-h...00-pieces.html
