It's a genuine throwback to 1980s straight to video action genre, with a nice little role for Titus Welliver. Certainly, it was a lot better than I was expecting. Desk |

The first is okay imo. The 2nd, meh. Stallone seemed like a extended cameo and bastella was less than that. I hope the 3rd is better and they continue the thread at the last part of the film. It felt a lot like a typical dtv film though. I'm planning on getting it on blu at some point.

Enjoyed this sequel. Stallone doesn't really have much screen time until the last 20-30 minutes or so, but it's fast paced, action packed and well shot. The cinematography and lighting is very good, also some cool production design. Loved the 80s retro synthesizer score. That sh!t rocked big time. Very hight production values for a DTV sequel. Gladly adding this to my Stallone collection

Good cinematography (IE: no shakey-cam and quick cuts) AND a retro synth score (just like the indie music I love and how the "Expendables" score should've been)? Alright, I guess I'll have to check this out after all.

I watched this last night and it has to be one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I've enjoyed some direct-to-video movies lately, like Bent for example, and feel they're often offering the real location action films we don't see in theaters anymore. This movie though? A total travesty of poor writing, poor direction and poor editing. Just nothing about this movie works. Closest it comes is a Sly action sequence around the middle of the movie, but even that is kind of half-assed.
Also, stupid me for assuming, but when I read Sly was basically guest starring in this I thought it meant Bautista was the main star, but he's just a guest star too. The main stars are people I never even heard of before. Ugh. |
