It's hard to tell based on the pricing. It's not as low as the other Criterion re-releases like Rosemary's Baby, and Don't Look Now, which were like $12.99, but it's also not as expensive as some of the Presents titles that seem to go up on Target for $22.99. It could be a situation like Reds and Heaven Can Wait where it gets a more premium regular release. If it shows up at Bullmoose with a "Limited Edition" wording, then it will for sure be a Presents title.
Edit: It's on Bullmoose for $15.97, so don't think it's a Presents title. It's an old listing though, and shows it was originally supposed to come out when the others did as well. So perhaps it's not an accurate listing, and maybe they delayed it to give it a more premium release ![]() https://www.bullmoose.com/p/35037982...ray-1960-ws-nr Last edited by MifuneFan; 11-06-2021 at 01:52 PM. |

So…the remake of The Haunting gets a Paramount Presents release and La Dolce Vita gets a (presumably) barebones release. Good call paramount. So glad you took this one back from Criterion.

Perhaps because it's going to be from the existing 4K master from Criterion's Fellini set, and not a new master made for this release like most PP releases?

Hopefully it'll have a better encode and audio without Criterion's special juice.

It's here! Comes with one special feature; a 2 minute 30 second introduction by Martin Scorsese. Audio is Italian Mono TrueHD in a stereo container at 2304kbps and does look to be free of Criterion's special sauce. Sounds big and bold with a hint of background texture audible during quiet passages. Interestingly it comes with an optional English dub which I actually didn't know existed!
Total size is roughly 37.4GB with a beefier bitrate than Criterion's disc. Grain and detail are better resolved to my eyes. For fans of the film who want it looking and sounding its best, this is the one to get! ![]() ![]() [Show spoiler]

Comparing that image with cap 2 on caps-a-holic, the JP release still seems to be the best encode. It does have worse contrast though.
