Default HORRORS OF SPIDER ISLAND (1960) coming May 26th from Severin

Filmed as early as 1960, HORRORS OF SPIDER ISLAND didn't reach US shores until at least 1962, as a girlie (but not nudie) flick titled IT'S HOT IN PARADISE. Several years later, it was reedited as a horror film, and played US drive-in theaters.

The topless scenes still weren't present, however, only appearing in German and French release prints. Even the old German DVD of the film didn't have the topless "Continental" footage.

A few years ago, a fan version of the film began to circulate that was stitched together from something like 9 different prints, including brief topless footage taken from an obscure, relatively poor quality French VHS release.

When Severin first mentioned that they were working on HORRORS OF SPIDER ISLAND roughly six months ago, I mentioned the existence of Continental footage to them. That seemed like news to the company rep at the time, but they have reportedly found a German dupe negative that is complete. It should be a significant upgrade from that French VHS version.
