4 things:

*Big fan of Joe Dante, even though his last two efforts "The Hole" and "Trapped Ashes", were not par of his preveous work at all.

*Big fan of Yelton, I like his choices on projects.

*Super big fan of those two big .....blue eyes that Dadario has!

I saw it last week and funny enough I agree about the "cute" aspect. I didn't have as much of a hard time buying the fact that the lead guy's ex comes back from the dead as I did his new girlfriend being into classic horror movie screenings much as he is. Which made me think even more, why are the lead characters of this movie so into 50/60s black and white classic horror monster movies when they could have easily have been into 80s horror (Evil Dead, Nightmare on Elm Street, Dawn of the Dead) and the movie would have made more sense and it would have been even cuter. That whole classic horror theme felt outdated to me.

The movie also reminded me of the awkward girlfriend humor Braindead had, but Peter Jackson did that better. Joe Dante with his latest movies plays it so safe I feel I'm just not the target audience for his movies anymore, but then I wonder who is?

Never seen the first but the second is one of my favourite dark comedies of all-time.

Love Joe Dante but the reviews are scathing. Seems to have some fans though, guess I should rent it.

I'd recommend a rent. I love Joe Dante films but I wasn't completely impressed. Although it's much much better than Life After Beth IMO.
