Default multi channel question

I have a sony receiver that I am currently using a toslink cable for sound. The receiver is a 7 channel and matrix's the rear 2 speakers. my bd player has 5.1 multichannel out and my receiver has 5.1 multichannel in. Is there a way to make it matrix the rear two channels in using multichannel instead of toslink?

thanks
