Default Dead Space Remake

Best news of the year so far. In terms of games anyways. The original was fantastic and I'm ecstatic!

Not 100% sure how I feel about a remake. Is it a new game or what are they changing? I'd honestly be happy with a remaster of all 3. They were all great games

Judging the teaser it will stay true to the original. According to gamepro.de, the game's story and characters will be expanded and there will be gameplay improvements too.

If they are updating gameplay I'd like to see the movement not be as blocky.

That would be great indeed. And if they manage to make this one just 1% scarier, then I'll need adult diapers. I'll turn 40 next year so I might need them at that point anyway...

I just saw some after-show commentary. It looks like they have the original game and are indeed updating the movement. They are also going to make some changes to the levels. Evidently, when the original game was made they had to limit some level designs due to system restraints. They mentioned that there will be new rooms, monsters, ext. They also mentioned that some of the monsters would change up for those of us that have played the game several times and already know where things are.

The good news is that it seems like they are trying to stay true to the original game.

Right there with you. I would have been fine with an updated/remastered version of the first three (similar to Mass Effect), but this is even better.

Dead Space 1 and 2 (2 being my personal favorite) are up there with best of them when it comes to survival horror.

Yeah, I'm fairly interested in this; I'd say the first game was the best of the trilogy, so an updated version is nice to see. Mainly, I'm just curious what kind of additions they're going to make; just minor bits here and there, or fairly substantial pieces?

I have Dead Space free on PS3 I think from the network outage. I never played it though.

Get to playing it. This is one of the few games that actually had me on the edge of my seat. You're always waiting for something to jump out at you. The dismemberment aspect was a completely new method of taking down enemies. Plus the weapons are really badass.

I’m hoping your character has various different suits when you upgrade them, similar to Dead Space 2 & 3. The first Dead Space you would upgrade, but your suit would look/still be the same.

Best gaming news this year! I’ve held out hope for a remastered trilogy for years, and the re-release of Mass Effect let me know EA was walking back their remake policy from last gen. I didn’t think they’d put money into doing a complete remake. Hope this turns out well and sells enough copies to justify a remake of Dead Space 2. They outdid themselves with that one.

Exciting stuff. One of my favorite survival horror games of all time. I believe it was one of the first survival horror games I had ever played and it did not disappoint at all. Wonder how long it will take them to release it…

Either. Looking forward to it and hopefully it is at the same level of quality (or better) with upgraded visuals and sound.

As great as this is, I’m not sure a full remake is really warranted. The Mass Effect remasters shows that those games still hold up phenomenally well and I don’t think you could really improve on 2 all that much (which I have to imagine is on the cards at some point).

Also pretty gutting for Visceral, who had the series completely mutilated by EA with Dead Space 3 and then unceremoniously axed after it didn’t perform as well as it’s ludicrous predictions.

They may add new elements, better controls and new suits and levels to explore.

I remember trying to get into Dead Space and kept getting stuck on where to go next. The door slamming shut on my character was frustrating. I probably should've given the game more time before moving on to something else.

This new version may help. Plus if it's single player offline, that would be welcome. Good teaser trailer.
