Costco Canada - Blu-ray Deals! - Blu-ray Forum

Although there have been several title-specific Costco Canada threads in the past year, I think we need an ongoing general Costco thread that people can add to like we have for other chain stores in the Canadian Deals section. I haven't been to Costco this week, so I don't yet have anything to add to start off the thread.

Please feel free to start and update this ongoing thread for Costco members.

I'm a Costco member...in fact, I am a Costco employee and I started a thread about this a year ago... nothing happened. Maybe this time it'll work.

The best deal right now at Costco is a NON-Blu-ray one. They have the Beatles Stereo CD boxset for $149.99...that is LESS THAN COST by a HUGE MARGIN.

I'l have a look at the deals they have when I go back to work on Monday.

i think this is a cool idea. althou they dont have killer deals on the regular basis they have had some good ones in the past worth noting...

My local Costco has been pretty lame on the blu rays lately only
a few choices and no hot deals.. They have Atari systems for 29.99

I'm only 21 so I never tried it but I wanna see how cool it was haha

woah... atari systems for 30 bucks??? they don't have those in Ontario! at least not at my costco... that would be sweet... i grew up on that stuff!!!

Yeah, I saw the Atari revival system last week. I was tempted until I noticed that there is no port so that you can play original game cartridges that you have or might buy second hand. As a stand-alone item for some retro memories, it might be fun.

I have got some great BD deals over the past year at Costco. Memorable items were the Batman Anthology for 39.99, The 6th Day was I think 14.99. I picked up the Frantic/Presumed Innocent BD a few weeks back for 17.99 when it first came out. I know it will sell cheaper later on, but that was the best price for that new release at the time.

Lately, BDs have been slim pickings at Costco. But you never know when a great deal shows up there.

Yes, those were highlights of last summer. The Matrix box set for $40 was a steal. So far, that's the only HD DVD title that I have replaced with BD. My part one HD DVD had audio sync problems, so I was happy to switch it up for the corrected BD set. I wonder if we will get a deal on the Lord of the Rings box sets?

Nothing gang busters but Ottawa West Costco had Dracula, Donnie Brasco, A Few Good Men, and In the line of Fire for $8.99. There may have been one or two more that i missed?

These are/where $10 everywhere else lately. I am a Costco member, but only through a past job(almost expiry time). Their prices really have never drawn me in.

As well the selection seems to have dropped of lately.

Costco occasionally has good BD deals (as stated by Cardman above - the box sets - when they have them - are usually a great price). But their inventory in BDs needs a serious boost. The Costco in Ottawa's East End (Innes Rd.) is very limited. Sometime there's the odd find (like the Dirty Harry/Magnum Force double feature BD I snagged for $15 last month), but they definitely need a bigger selection. Even the new release BDs are usually limited to two or three titles max. Surprisingly, I was recently at a Coscto in Orlando, FLA, thinking the selection would be so much better, but I was wrong. While they did have more choice of old and new BDs, it wasn't that much larger than my local Costco here, and the prices were very comparable, even with the loonie almost at par. Speaking of Florida, do not buy Disney BDs at the Disney stores - most were $39 US !!

Lord of the Rings theatrical trilogy at $54.99. Seeing as it was $49.99 briefly at Best Buy this week, the Costco price is hardly stellar, but it is $5 less than retail at the moment. I bet this set will be at $40 by the end of the year anyway.

Yaa... I don't have many positive things to say about the place & their prices. Maybe if I had a family of 12 to provide for I'd appreciate it more.
