Default Problem with firmware upgrade on Sony BDP-S300

I recently upgraded the firmware on my player to Version 3.70. I believe there may be a newer version but I didn't know that until after I did the upgrade. Anyway, shortly after upgrading, my player no longer operates. When I put in a disc, I now getting a message on the display that says...No Disc. I called Sony and they want me to ship the player back to them for service. Has anyone else had this problem?

No. But when I did the upgrade, it did not go as described in the instructions. I called SONY and they told me what to do (which was the OPPOSITE of the instructions)....and my screen never indicated anything during the process, but it took.

Sorry I am no help....good luck.

Thanks for the input. I also had a probem during the install where it seemed like it hung up. I called Sony and they had me turn the power on and I got a display message saying that the update was completed.

Try downloading the new firmware (v3.80) and attempting an update with that. If it doesn't recognize the disc, then you'll need to send it back to Sony for service. Sounds like a botched flash job, which can happen for a variety of reasons (power surge during upgrade, faulty chip, bad data on the upgrade CD, etc.).

Sorry no problems with updates. BUT what I did instead of doing the download update I just went on Sony's website and typed in my name & addy and they sent my Frimware update disc ,That means they do it & no mistakes ,all i did was pop in the disc & it did the update .

Thanks for the input. I did get the disc from Sony rather then burning it myself. I sent the player back to Sony. I just hate to be without it for the few weeks it will probably take to get it back.
