I know Transformers is on HD-DVD but WE NEED IT ON THA Blu! and I don't mean the "high def" that Blu comes out with when its a combined release of both HD and BD. I vote for a whole remastering kind of thing... and Shooter, whats up with Blu not saling it ne more!?? why is it not avaliable any where??? (not counting resealers on amazon or somethin)

Both Shooter and Transformers are Paramount titles. They stopped making the Blu version of Shooter after Paramount dropped support for Blu back in August. You can still find rare copies of Shooter on Blu every now and then.
You have to keep in mind that not all studios release movies in Blu and HD-DVD. Paramount only makes HD-DVD's in the meantime. |

Shooter was released in Blu-ray. However, after Paramount decided to take the Toshiba bribe, no additional copies were made available to the retailers. Transformers was released after the Paramount defection, and has never been available on Blu-ray. I would not pay the outrageous prices I see for Shooter, since I am confident that all of Paramount's releases will be available on blu-ray very soon.

Transformers... I don't care about a remastered transfer as much as getting PCM on it once it comes out. I think it would be wise, once Paramount comes blu again around May or June that this is one of the first titles to come out probably in the holiday season.

first... yes, go giants lol. and a close second thank u blueneon and miokti, that's exactly what I was looking for. and savage, u no, I'm not doubting but... really!?? is this true ne one that paramount will come to Blu in may or June!??? and Ive never supported HD DVD even to compare, so I'm wondering if what I've heard is true... that movies like shooter and POSSIBLY Transformers, that the quality is not as good cuz Blu sticks with how HD converted it???

...wh.........what? Are you asking if Paramount will go blu exclusive in may or June? cause nobody actually knows... ![]() And, again, if Transformers comes out on blu if/when they come to the blu side... still... nobody knows if it'll just be an HD-DVD port or not. I dont even know if these were your questions. Not to be rude or anything, but you might wanna re-read your posts before clicking post reply. ![]() Just a heads up! ![]() |

yes, i don't know when Paramount will turn Blu, but I read what Bill Hunt posts. He tends to be right. He's the guy from digitalbits.com . He says that if studios want to cash in for the 2009 holiday season, they're gonna have to announce blu support by the summer (June) in order to get their disc-makin' machines to make Blu discs in time... I'm just sayin' June 2008 will be a nice month for Blu supporters 'round the world

Hi there noob. Welcome to the forums.
I recommend you use the search tool whenever you can. But to answer your question, I have 2 words for you. Format. War. This is a format war, and right now, those titles are owned by Paramount, who dropped Blu-ray back in the fall of '07, abruptly. A few of their older BD titles are still around, but they are hard to find. The director of Transformers, Michael Bay, hates HD DVD and hated the HD DVD release. It was not what he wanted, and Paramount made it without his help/consent. So he is actively trying to push Paramount to release Blu-ray so he can release his film(s) how he wants it. Also, it is only a matter of time before Paramount joins Blu again. With WB dropping HD DVD, and the sales for Blu-ray jumping up so high so fast, there is no chance that HD DVD will last long, and both Paramount and Universal (only HD DVD exclusive studios left) can see that they are loosing money on this. So, just have patience. We will see all these titles and more on Blu-ray this year. |

I think the quality would be the same or better. I doubt Paramount would have resampled the movies twice for the two formats, but it is possible. WB only did the movies once, and I think they are not going to continue releasing the lower sampled movies now that HD DVD is out.
I suspect that either way, we will see better versions of these films once paramount goes Blu, since they will have to resample them again anyways. |

If Paramount sticks with their contract with Toshiba it will not be over until 02/2009. It was an 18 month contratct which I believe started August 20th of 2007...

I think your question has been answered numerous times on this thread. I would also take the advise of one poster here, and that is to check your post before you submit it. I mean I really don't mind abv's all the time, but over all poor spelling and grammar to the point where you don't know if it is a question or a statement can confuse someone on here who genuinely trying to help you.
Come on "salling", "tha". Anyone ever watch the movie Idiocracy? It's already slowly happening... Sorry if I sound like an a$$, maybe I'm still a little upset from last night. |
