Default replacing dlp lamp with led

is it possible to replace the lamp from an older dlp with one of the newer led light engines? i have a samsung hl-something or other. and was thinking about trying this if its possible and if they sell the parts to do it. i contacted the samsung customer support and they just gave me a website to buy new lamps.

I think peole have upgraded their old lamp based DLP to LED DLP. If you contact samsung and tell them your unhappy with the lamp based DLP and was wondering what the cost would be to trade in your old unit for a newer model you might be able to swing something. I have heard people have done this, not sure if it's true though or if it works.

Before you replace your lamp, read the content of the following links:

If I understand your question right the answer is yes. Below is a link to a real good site online that sells DLP lamps and they have developed and manufactured a custom part to make this happen (assuming this is your situation).

what i was looking to do was replace my current halogen bulb with an LED bulb. i didn't know if it was possible. i like my tv the look of it is one of the reasons i got it. which is why i was hoping i could just upgrade the light source as opposed to getting a new tv.

The LED light engine actually blinks them in sequence instead of using the color wheel, that's why it won't work
