Default Is TrueHD Uncompressed PCM The End of The Line?

just wanted to know if 7.1 HD surround sound is the future as well? I guess I want to know what is the end of the line? What is the highest possible sound we can hear or get? i mean adding 9 other speakers around your room is ridiculous but i dont know. like clearly when regular tv came out we knew that in the future there would be 1080p and all that. So whats the end of the line at the consumer level for video and audion?

It appears that 22.2 Surround Sound will truly be the end of the line (for now, at least).

Your speakers would be your walls, floor, ceiling and will need 24 seperates (amps) for each channel.

22.2 is a bit on the ridiculous side for a home application. They might as well pay someone to kick your @ss during fight scenes, so they're more convincing.
