Default Dr. Giggles, anyone excited besides moi?

Dr. Giggles is being released as a double disc with Otis by Warner on July 6, 2010.
Is anyone out there as excited as me to get this on blu-ray? As I never would have expected it this soon on this format.
I love this film. First saw it on home video when it just was released. Saw Siskel & Ebert's review and they hated it. But after their review I had imagined what type of a horror movie it would be and to my delight it was exactly as I had expected. Normally I have my own ideas of what the movie I'm going to see is like and am always wrong except in this case.
Larry Drake is so darn awesome and he has such a wonderfully evil and haunting giggle.
"I hope you have protection."
"Don't worry, it's ouchless."

I do love Larry Drake's acting in this one. His especially demented portrayal of the Giggles character is classic. I will probably rent this. Maybe buy it if it's cheap.

Is there a remake coming or something?

I just find it odd that this is being released, with all of the other unreleased titles in the WB catalog.

Well if you click on disc information it shows you a picture of the cover and says 2.35:1, so I am hoping that means for both movies ,as I want to see Dr. Giggles as it was originally meant to be seen.
Would have prefered it as a solo disc, but I'm still happy it is coming to blu in any case.

Wow. Huge guilty pleasure. I still have my old VHS copy of the film.

Never heard of Otis though. So I have no clue what the heck that is.

I really liked it. It's a black comedy about a guy that kidnaps girls to live out a prom fantasy.

I first owned this on laserdisc and to this day that's the only way to see it in its original scope ratio. I'll be picking this up for sure

Am I excited about the movie?--Me, not particularly. (Just one in the middle of a glut of Dark Horse Comics self-greenlighting movie deals, back when they were the only comic book company that could get their titles onscreen.

But I am excited about Warner using bulk double-features to clean a lot of "unsellable" minor catalog titles onto Blu-ray...This should get VERY interesting if they keep it up, and we won't know what'll be licensed next.

Have had this on laserdisc, would love to get the BD of this now as I love this film. Could have done without the double feature though.

Talking Dr. Giggles RULES!

I had the original 1.33:1 OOP DVD copy and sold it on ebay for $50 some years back. Then the Terror set came out a few years ago and I got it back again in a widescreen presentation 1:85:1 with an ok DVD transfer. I saw this in HD on a satellite channel, Monsters HD (RIP)I think, a few years back and it looked pretty nice. I hope the BRD transfer is a solid (grain is a okay with me), along with a decent 5.1 lossless audio mix (probably too much to ask).

This is a 100%, 80s-cheese-horror-guiltless pleasure that I will savor on BRD!! Thanks to the studio for the release (provide it's a clear upgrade to the current DVD I own).

I thought Dr. Giggles was produced by Universal Studios. How did Warner Bros. get involved here?

It was an indie that fell out of ownership, and picked up by Warner.

That is correct, it was done by Largo I believe. And good news, it's available for preorder on Amazon and I just got done placing my order. Was thinking about watching my standard dvd of it, but I will wait.

I do remember comparing my 2.35:1 laserdisc to the 1.85:1 DVD. It's not bad since the movie was shot in Super35, so the DVD is basically an open matte version.

Thumbs down Hated it.

I'm amazed anyone liked it. I thought the acting was incredibly poor, and not at all scary. I'm glad you're getting it on blu ray though, most things I want on blu ray that aren't popular I'll never see.
