In addition to the mothership series, headlined by Chopra Jonas and Madden, Citadel also has local language offshoots in India and Italy.

Per the logline: Eight years ago, Citadel fell. The independent global spy agency—tasked to uphold the safety and security of all people—was destroyed by operatives of Manticore, a powerful syndicate manipulating the world from the shadows. With Citadel’s fall, elite agents Mason Kane (Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Chopra Jonas) had their memories wiped as they narrowly escaped with their lives. They’ve remained hidden ever since, building new lives under new identities, unaware of their pasts. Until one night, when Mason is tracked down by his former Citadel colleague, Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci), who desperately needs his help to prevent Manticore from establishing a new world order. Mason seeks out his former partner, Nadia, and the two spies embark on a mission that takes them around the world in an effort to stop Manticore, all while contending with a relationship built on secrets, lies, and a dangerous-yet-undying love.

The cast also includes Lesley Manville, Osy Ikhile, Ashleigh Cummings, Roland Møller and Caoilinn Springall.

I've been waiting for this for awhile. It feels like it was announced a while ago and there has been no information on it except that it had a very troubled production. Season 1 cost over $200m for 7 episodes.

I'm a fan of Richard Madden, this feels like his audition reel for being the next James Bond.

Priyanka Chopra looks like the weak link though, but maybe she'll be good in the action scenes.

Amazon's Citadel Cost $300 Million After Major Reshoots And Showrunner Firing

This is not surprising.

I was able to view an early cut of the first three episodes as part of a focus group, and let me tell you, it was some of the worst TV I've seen in a long time: bland characters, cardboard dialogue, a dull story that proceeded at a snail's pace, ugly cinematography (a Russo Brothers trademark), very little actual action, and more clichés than I thought would be possible to cram into just three episodes of TV. I knew how much they'd spent on it, yet at no point did it seem like that money ended up on screen.

Had I not been paid for my time, I would have thrown in the towel well before the end of the three-episode mark. It seemed like a classic case of Hollywood throwing money at big names before they had an actual story. I remember thinking, "they'll need to completely rework the entire show just to salvage anything out of this footage," and it sounds like that's what they tried to do. A decent amount of what I saw in that trailer was not in what I watched, so I'd be curious to see if their efforts actually worked (although given how bad it was, I don't know if I'll be able to sit through it again, even with the changes).

If you've been looking forward to this, I would brace for disappointment.

The trailers make this look GREAT! And yes i'm a huge fan of how Priyanka Chopra looks so I'm going to give this a shot. Hopefully, the reshoot will fix the problems mentioned above.

I'm just hoping it's as good as the trailers make it out to be, because if they're giving it a second season then they must have some confidence in it.

I'll give it a watch I did see most of Quantico which was alright.

One thing about both those trailers a couple of posts above the first looks like an actual show while the second looks like the PlayStation tie-in game.

Normally I'm quite critical of low-budget shows or those with decent budgets just not on the screen but this does seem a very high budget for an action spy type of show. With the announced second season I wonder if it will have similar production costs?

It appears, based on this Rolling Stone review, that reshoots didn't fix the problems I highlighted in an earlier post.

It is bland, generic, and almost shockingly cheap-looking, given the price tag.

Each of the first three episodes clocks in at under 40 minutes, and they feel even skimpier than that. It’s often said of expensive film and TV spectacles that, regardless of their other creative merits, you can see the money up there on the screen. Citadel will leave you marveling at how a reported $300 million can be all but invisible to the audience.

Amazon just doesn't know how to make prestigious television. I can't believe they already approved a second season for this flop.

Amazon itself doesn't make anything. Production of their streaming shows is handled by various "traditional" film studios. There are several examples of how Amazon does, indeed, have "prestigious television" on their streaming service.

I have watched the first 2 Episodes this Morning:

it was a fun No Brainer Bourne Rip off. The Action was solid, simpel just violence against Violence. Priyanka Chopra doesn't have much Screentime, but she is very hot and had a lot of action.
Stancy Tucci is the showstealer. Great fun humor.
The Story is very simple and felt like seen a lot of time before, but the episodes have a very fast storytelling with a lot of Action in Episode 2, so it isn't boring.

Looking forward for the next Episode, nice simple No Brainer
