Default After the Netflix news is it possible that Amazon may soon go Blu Exclusive?

Is it just me or is the current Amazon Bogo on Paramount & Universal resembling more of a firesale to reduce HD stock especially low selling HD titles.

I would love for that to be the case. That would just add to the latest stream of good news.

I doubt it, Amazon will likely see a sales increase when the places to purchase the discs become non existant

I'd think that Amazon would be one of the last retailers to go exclusive. The cost of a bit of warehouse shelf space is very much lower than retail shelf space. And the more B&Ms that drop or move away from HD-DVD the more DUD fans will turn to places like Amazon.

I'm not getting my hopes up for that. Amazon sells all sorts of niche stuff. They have SACDs, which are a smaller market than HD DVD. Not having stores helps them, they just have warehouses where HD DVDs collect dust. They'll still carry them, but not many copies of any one title after a while.

Amazon is far to HUGE and could care less that they stock both. They will carry HD DVD all the way to the very very end.

If its the only place left to buy duds then it will increase sales, but seriously, why keep getting movies on a dead format. Whats the point?

I agree. Amazon is a huge supplier to Hd-DVD supporters and will not doubt continue to be well after the war is officially over. Where else will the fanboys get there fix? EBay and Amazon. Retail stores won't be carrying them.

Same here... I think Amazon cares less as long as the product sells and brings them in profit on a regular basis.
Netflix only stocked few copies of each movie on both formats (if available) and see what happened? Lots of people complained that the queues and wait times were just out of control for high def movies.
I really do hope that now they are blu exclusive, a larger stock on blu-rays will happen so that the wait times drop.

If Amazon is like a number of online retailers, they can list items well beyond stocking them, and just drop ship them from the vendor. This will likely happen until the remaining HD-DVDs are donated to goodwill or dropped off at the remainder stores.

Prices could go up at amazon for HDDVD. I've found that hard to find stuff is seldom cheap on there.

I honestly do not foresee Amazon dumping HD DVD at this point. In fact, I can imagin Amazon to be being the last outlet (execpt ebay) where HD DVD people will be able to buy their movies.

They are being really responsible and caring for the customers though by putting this message with all of the Warner HD DVD's.

Warner Bros. has announced plans to discontinue its support of the HD DVD format after May 31, 2008.

Amazon will most likely be the very last to go blu. It makes no sense for them to abandon it now.

Same here, I believe the big box stores will be the first to go Blu-ray exclusive before the online stores.

Amazon will be the last major retailer carrying it, guaranteed. With their virtually unlimited shelf space it doesn't make any sense for them not to, especially with the percentage of discs they move
