Hot Horror: Stephen King Adaptation ‘The Boogeyman’ Moves from Streaming to Theatrical (Exclusive)
A strong test screening had 20th Century executives and producer 21 Laps thinking big-screen.

The Boogeyman, the adaptation of a Stephen King short story by Disney arm 20th Century Studios, is getting a theatrical release after initially being made for the company’s streaming service, Hulu.

The move occurs after the movie, directed by Rob Savage and produced by 21 Laps, the banner behind Stranger Things, had a surprisingly muscular test screening in December that made studio executives and producers reconsider their release strategy. (They also showed the movie to King, along with the new plans, who gave it a thumbs up.)

The horror thriller will now open in theatres on June 2, 2023.

Looks pretty good, I just hope the titular monster isn’t the typical CGI monstrosity.

I wonder if she screamed for her parents before the trailer takes place. Once that closet door flung open, I'd be hooting and hollering for someone to come in and save me

not to be a killjoy, but host is one of the ten worst things ive ever watched, so i can’t imagine this being any good.

wait, the guy didn't do found-footage anymore, huh? beside Host, I think I watched another of his found-footage called "Dashcam"

trailer looks good so I never could think they has same director
anyway, this has same writers with A Quiet Place 1 so I still have some hope

Yeah - this has a solid "maybe" feel for me. I'll try it. I like the genre.

I was a maybe and then saw the PG13 rating and "maybe" turned to "if I have nothing else to watch when it's streaming."
