Default The Boogeyman

Hot Horror: Stephen King Adaptation ‘The Boogeyman’ Moves from Streaming to Theatrical (Exclusive)
A strong test screening had 20th Century executives and producer 21 Laps thinking big-screen.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/mo...0f0740c6f56c40

The Boogeyman, the adaptation of a Stephen King short story by Disney arm 20th Century Studios, is getting a theatrical release after initially being made for the company’s streaming service, Hulu.

The move occurs after the movie, directed by Rob Savage and produced by 21 Laps, the banner behind Stranger Things, had a surprisingly muscular test screening in December that made studio executives and producers reconsider their release strategy. (They also showed the movie to King, along with the new plans, who gave it a thumbs up.)

The horror thriller will now open in theatres on June 2, 2023.

Thanks. That's interesting how they said "All the horror aficionados take a bow, you made this happen." No doubt linked to the recent breakout success of Terrifier 2, and Smile too.

Yes, also considering the sequel is already being planned due to Megan's success.

Looks pretty good, I just hope the titular monster isn’t the typical CGI monstrosity.

I wonder if she screamed for her parents before the trailer takes place. Once that closet door flung open, I'd be hooting and hollering for someone to come in and save me

wait, the guy didn't do found-footage anymore, huh? beside Host, I think I watched another of his found-footage called "Dashcam"
trailer looks good so I never could think they has same director
anyway, this has same writers with A Quiet Place 1 so I still have some hope

It certainly has a super creepy vibe. Sad, but I did jump once during the trailer video.

Just wait til you hear what the Director of Cloverfield went on to do…

[Show spoiler]Plus you have the likes of Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin who went from Devil’s Due to Ready or Not, Josh Trank moved from Chronicle to Fan4stic, M. Night Shyamalan did a found footage movie amongst all his traditional narrative features. The director behind As Above, So Below and The Poughkeepsie Tapes did No Escape. Adam Wingard did The Blair Witch sequel after making You’re Next and The Guest and went in to do Godzilla and King. There’s probably so many more beyond those.

Yeah - this has a solid "maybe" feel for me. I'll try it. I like the genre.

I was a maybe and then saw the PG13 rating and "maybe" turned to "if I have nothing else to watch when it's streaming."
