I never got the hots for Madonna, so this is an easy pass. But had Julianne Moore been in the top spot instead...big maybe, regardless of the script.

As I recall it from being a horny teenager, Moore's one sex scene is way hotter than any of Madonna's.

Surprisingly, I've never seen this. Which is odd, because I love Julianne Moore, and I certainly don't mind Madonna, either. However, I'm pretty pissed to learn that Anne Archer used a body double, but apparently tried to take credit for doing the nudity herself, which is really not cool. Also, damn Scientology for making her a nutcase, because I have always thought she was gorgeous, too.

Unsurprisingly, with this much sex and nudity, the film will nevertheless go in my collection.

I recall seeing the unrated cut years ago. It felt like a racy R rated scandalous Lifetime movie... and in that respect it was delicious junk food.

No matter what its better than the 50 Shades films!

Exactly. Say what you want about Verhoven (and I'm not really that much of a fan, to be honest) but he definitely brings something to a trashy movie that looks easy to replicate but the knockoffs always look like knockoffs.

I've been rooting for a Sliver (1993) release from Shout! for ages now... Despite it probably never happening, I can now dream without feeling like a total idiot!

Oh, and despite the trash this movie is, the trailer is a work of art.

Sliver already has a release. I'd prefer if they continue to release erotic thrillers not currently on blu-ray


EDIT: Other MGM erotic thrillers Shout can go for are Wild Orchid II, Save Me, Love Cheat & Steal, Dream Lover and Two Moon Junction (which I have the UK 88 Films release of but wouldn't mind upgrading to an edition with some extras).

In the wrong aspect ratio, and not the Unrated version that was on the DVD (maybe the extra bits weren't available in HD). But ya, that's likely as best as we'll ever get for Sliver, so other unreleased titles are more important.

I don't really see them going back to catalogue titles such as Sliver and putting in the extra work. Paramount haven't even released Roman Holiday on blu-ray yet! What's the running time of the Unrated Sliver, I didn't even know there was an alternative version

I agree, there's no way Paramount is going back to it. The unrated version is only a minute longer, but there are about 4+ minutes where certain scenes use racier footage in the unrated, and the R version uses alternate takes that don't show much skin, so the running time is still close), so there are a few substantial changes, especially if you want more of Baldwin's butt.

Paramount issued the unrated on VHS some time after the original R vhs came out, and then the DVD was unrated. And now the Blu preserves the alternate R version. I'm just going to throw the DVD in the case with the Blu and call it a day.

Arguing which Madonna performance is better is like arguing for the merits of odourless turds vs smelly ones.

I watched Body of Evidence recently and it was just as bad as I recalled it being in 93. Claiming that it is just a Basic Instinct clone is giving it faint praise. There are zero thrills it, lurid or otherwise. It is essentially a courtroom drama with some kinky sex scenes which are devoid of genuine danger or eroticism.

It takes itself seriously too, which is really the final insult.

I remember sitting through this horrendously bad movie when it came out. Everyone in theatre was laughing here and there about the bad dialogue and no this is not a comedy. The best part of the experience though was when Madonna's character got killed and ended floating in face down in a pool. At that point, some queen in the back of theatre jumps up and sings loudly "This used to be HER playground!". Everyone just f-ckin lost it. I can't believe I can remember this so vividly 25 years later.
