You need a better Blu-ray player. The A/B Repeat function works just fine on my Oppo.

I use a PS3 for most of my movies (except other-region titles), and the A/B button only works on maybe 10% of my collection, primarily catalog titles released by Kino, Warner Archive or Twilight Time (and sometimes not even then). I still own a ton of crummy, ancient DVDs with spicy scenes for the sole reason that the A/B button won't work on the Blus. This will be one of the only reasons I will hold onto the DVD copies in certain combo packs.

I do not miss the days when you'd have to tortuously rewind a VHS tape to re-experience the "good parts". Heh, reminds me of a funny story on the Fast Times At Ridgemont High commentary, where Cameron Crowe talks about renting copies of the movie on VHS from multiple video stores years after it came out in theaters, and every single copy would have tracking problems around the exact same scene.

Oh well there's another Madonna blu-ray to add to my collection despite the fact its probably her worst performance sadly(Even worse than Shanghai Surprise) the trailer was pretty amazing and they used an enigma song just like in Sliver - i didnt think she looked too hot in this film though and the script is awful(" I ****ed you, i ****ed Frank - thats what i do i **** and it made me 8 million dollars ! )?
i wish we had Whos That Girl on blu-ray - i emailed warner archive via their facbook page and they still havent replied ? i would love to get The Next Best Thing and Swept Away but seeing as Paramount and Sony arent hot on releasing catalogue titles i doubt we will ever get those

My husband is a Madonna uber-fan, and even he doesn't want this one. I told him I'm getting it anyways 'cause I'm a Julianne Moore fan. I agree they need to put out Who's That Girl? That's the Madonna movie I really want on blu-ray.

I've been rooting for a Sliver (1993) release from Shout! for ages now... Despite it probably never happening, I can now dream without feeling like a total idiot!

Oh, and despite the trash this movie is, the trailer is a work of art.

Sliver already has a release. I'd prefer if they continue to release erotic thrillers not currently on blu-ray


EDIT: Other MGM erotic thrillers Shout can go for are Wild Orchid II, Save Me, Love Cheat & Steal, Dream Lover and Two Moon Junction (which I have the UK 88 Films release of but wouldn't mind upgrading to an edition with some extras).

I can't believe I actually wasted my time to see this turkey when it came out. Guess it was more due to the curiosity of Madonna's acting abilities. She can't act. More proof a movie doesn't have to be good to be released on Blu-ray.

In the wrong aspect ratio, and not the Unrated version that was on the DVD (maybe the extra bits weren't available in HD). But ya, that's likely as best as we'll ever get for Sliver, so other unreleased titles are more important.

I don't really see them going back to catalogue titles such as Sliver and putting in the extra work. Paramount haven't even released Roman Holiday on blu-ray yet! What's the running time of the Unrated Sliver, I didn't even know there was an alternative version

I agree, there's no way Paramount is going back to it. The unrated version is only a minute longer, but there are about 4+ minutes where certain scenes use racier footage in the unrated, and the R version uses alternate takes that don't show much skin, so the running time is still close), so there are a few substantial changes, especially if you want more of Baldwin's butt.

Paramount issued the unrated on VHS some time after the original R vhs came out, and then the DVD was unrated. And now the Blu preserves the alternate R version. I'm just going to throw the DVD in the case with the Blu and call it a day.

Too bad Shout! couldn't do a Madonna double feature including her other 1993 MGM movie, Abel Ferrara's gritty Dangerous Game (1993).

However, it's nice to see a fun bad movie like Body of Evidence coming to blu.

"Dangerous Game" has been released on BD by Olive. I actually enjoy the film, although Madonna is terrible in it. Real shame that a better actress wasn't cast in the part.

Yeah, maybe I was too hard on her. She's okay in it, but she isn't a natural actress, so a good performance by her is the equivalent of a bad performance by an actress with more talent.

I mean...i think she's quite natural in it. She's essentially playing herself - a self-obsessed movie star. She's never great but I'd say she's very good in it, even by Madonna standards. It's still better than Evita, A League of Their Own and Dick Tracy, where I'd call her good in all.

Arguing which Madonna performance is better is like arguing for the merits of odourless turds vs smelly ones.

I watched Body of Evidence recently and it was just as bad as I recalled it being in 93. Claiming that it is just a Basic Instinct clone is giving it faint praise. There are zero thrills it, lurid or otherwise. It is essentially a courtroom drama with some kinky sex scenes which are devoid of genuine danger or eroticism.

It takes itself seriously too, which is really the final insult.
