Default Lost Boys - AVC MPEG-4 Encode?

According to Peter M. Bracke at High-Def Digest, it is. I know he goofed up on the review for Gothika. But still...

I can't wait to get this on Blu Ray. This is my favorite movie of all time! I already have the DVD and I'll be getting it in Blu also. I wonder if part 2 will be just as good.

I have both pre-ordered from Amazon, can't wait for the first one. Although I can't say I'm too excited for the sequel, but I'll watch it anyway to see if it's worth a damn or not.

Warner does all their encodes in-house, VC-1 only. It's a typo

The disc details on that same page say it's VC-1, as well.

Default Lost Boys Review

The reviewer thought the film was junk but hey someone over there thought men in black was a shiz movie

Still seems PQ is in order much more than expected and audio in good shape as well check it out

Looks like it's going to be a great blu ray. I wholeheartedly disagree with his grade of the film though. * * 1/2 stars? Hmmmm. I don't think so. This film is a classic from my childhood!

Kris, can you elaborate on whether or not:

Is a good thing, or a bad thing? Given Bracke's reviews, I'm inclined to think bad, but am hoping otherwise?

I'd have to totally disagree with the reviewer on this one. I think Lost Boys is a classic and for me, a must have. No, it's not really scary, but then I don't think it was meant to be. In fact I'm not really certain it even should be classified as "horror" at all. But that fact alone does not discount it's quality as a movie. Point in case, "Queen of the Damned". Another excellent vampire movie, though not the least bit scary.

So I noticed that Peter M. Bracke said it was a avc encode. I assume this is wrong...although I hope it really is. The avc seems to produce better..sharper images at higher bitrates than the vc-1 high bitrate movies I've seen. The vc-1 just seems 'softer'. Besides I believe its a msft codec.....I dare not support them if I don't have to.

The presentation has a very natural looking grain structure that obviously varies based on the amount of light. This is a great looking transfer. I don't think it is completely devoid of print artifacts like Peter says, but it is very clean. I should have a review up later this week.

I've learned to just ignore Bracke's taste in movies and read the video/audio stuff.
