Default American Horror Project Vol 2 coming from Arrow

https://www.diabolikdvd.com/product/...ow-us-blu-ray/

Quote:
Description
Continuing its mission to unearth the very best in weird and wonderful horror obscura from the golden age of US independent genre moviemaking, Arrow Video is proud to present the long-awaited second volume in its American Horror Project series co-curated by author Stephen Thrower (Nightmare USA: The Untold Story of the Exploitation Independents).

Starting off with a little-seen 1970 offering from underrated cult auteur John Hayes (Grave of the Vampire, Garden of the Dead), Dream No Evil is a haunting, moving tale of a young woman’s desperate quest to be reunited with her long-lost father – only to find herself drawn into a fantasyland of homicidal madness. Meanwhile, 1976’s Dark August stars Academy Award-winner Kim Hunter (A Streetcar Named Desire) in a story of a man pursued by a terrifying and deadly curse in the wake of a hit-and-run accident. Lastly, 1977’s Harry Novak-produced The Child is a gloriously delirious slice of horror mayhem in which a young girl raises an army of the dead against the people she holds responsible for her mother’s death.

With all three films having been newly remastered from the best surviving film elements and appearing here for the first time ever on Blu-ray, alongside a wealth of supplementary material, American Horror Project Volume Two offers up yet another fascinating and blood-chilling foray into the deepest, darkest corners of stars-and-stripes terror.

Dark August is the undeniable gem of the set and worth buying the whole thing based on it alone. There's such a quietly unnerving air to it. Dream No Evil is also quite good. I have the big box VHS still in close to pristine condition. The Child isn't bad, just nothing particularly special. Not that I expected it, but I was really wishing Bert I. Gordon's incredibly underrated Burned at the Stake would finally show up. Never losing hope though.

Cool, thanks for the impressions. I'm not familiar with any of these, unlike the first set where I knew two of them ahead of time. Sounds like maybe it's similar to the first, where there's one gem (Witch), one very interesting/strange thing (Malatesta), and one rather pedestrian movie (Premonition)?

I will have to read about them in the book.

These three look like keen choices, especially Dark August. I’m all in.

I'm still poring over Thrower's book (it's a tome in size and page count), so I'm happy that Vol. 2 has been officially announced. All three films sound intriguing --I'll be pre-ordering this once it's available!

Solid-looking followup. Better choice of films this time, IMO. The reason Vol. 2 took so long was the search for source elements was longer than expected so maybe the next volume won't take as long.

I've not seen any of these before, but they all sound terrific. Especially The Child - those creepy kid movies are a particular favorite of mine. I'm in!

I am beyond excited for this. I love discovering these obscure gems. Like the first collection, I haven't seen any of the films, but they all sound intriguing. The Witch Who Came From the Sea and The Premonition were my favorites last time around. I'm thrilled to see others say the selection is even stronger for Vol. 2. It was a long wait, but I'm sure it will be worth it.

The Child is worth the price alone to me. My something weird video dvd has been spun to the moon and back. Two quick, truly scary moments in that film still creep me out to this day. Like no other film on earth.

A pretty good line up this time around. I have Dream No Evil on one of those Psychotronica DVD Collections from VCI so that one will be a nice upgrade in quality. A confusing flick about a young woman with delusions, daddy issues and a bleeding duck.
I also own the Something Weird DVD of The Child which is in my opinion a great straight forward zombie horror flick. The flick was dubbed over in post-production, much like a Ray Dennis Steckler movie which can be annoying at times but still a good 70's horror IMO.
Dark August, I have never seen so that one should be a real treat and the one I'm most looking forward to.

I have The Child on DVD. It was a blind buy. I didn't like it and the ending goes on for waaay too long. The two others sound interesting. Never heard of them but I saw Garden of the Dead, which I got a kick out of.

I love THE CHILD and for that movie alone, the set is worth it; the other two will be blond buys for me, but I am encouraged by the positive things people say about them.
