The greatest TV show I've seen in years - I'd go as far as to say it's the best thing to be made for TV since Better Call Saul ended. Fantastic news.

Don't do TV really but will try and invest the time for Joe Wright.

I'd guess you'd either need a shed load of cash to pull this off or make it a very small personal film. Anything inbetween will be pants.

The release linked above was £34.99 yesterday, but has now dropped to £24.99 and appears to be the Blu-ray. The 4K UHD listing seems to be the one here, which is still £34.99:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0F54RHLZ7/

This would make the EAN for the 4K UHD 506079757951.

I updated the listing and added the 4K UHD release:

I’ve been watching clips of this on YouTube and have been enthralled. So happy to see this coming to 4K disc. Immediately preordered! Highly recommend checking this out.

Really happy this is getting a 4K! Don’t expect this to make it to America so I’m definitely gonna order this!

Wait, are they releasing May December in 4K? That’d be most welcome as their BD is atrocious.

I don't see a listing for a Dazzler UHD of May December, just their old, hideously botched BD.

Amazon UK fixed the listings, the UHD and BD listings now have the right prices and images.

Is it possible this may not play on US systems?

BDs of European TV are usually 1080i/50 so they can maintain 25fps. Those discs won't play on many/most American systems. You need a machine that can convert the signal.

How do UHDs handle 25fps material?

Is it possible these discs may similarly be unplayable on many US systems?

I haven’t had any issues with import 4K UHD discs. But Dazzler blu-ray discs are always region B locked.

Yep, general import UHD discs aren't the issue, they'll play fine and they're almost always region free.

I'm asking specifically about European TV shows on UHD, because European TV shows are filmed at 25fps.

Does anyone have experience with a European TV show on UHD?

I'm guessing that this is likely to be 2160p25, probably as shot. However, that's rarely used and it might end up being 2160p at 24 fps or 23.976 fps, especially if it was shot in those framerates.

Many US-model 4K UHD players and 4K TVs now have the capability to display 50Hz video built-in, though it's still not publicized. I would look up your equipment and see, or if you can't find the info, you could consider buying this release:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=381934

which is English-friendly and encoded at 25 fps. Then you would know if you can display 2160p25 video.

I'm slightly nervous, because I've encountered UK TV BDs at 25fps that wouldn't play on my system, or would only play the audio, and would only play properly on my cheap secondary regionless BD player, which can convert what's efffectively still PAL. I don't have a regionless UHD player, so this set feels like a $50 gamble, but I see no sign of this series being broadcast here, there are plenty of Sky shows that never make it to the US.

Well, the discs should be region free, so that hopefully shouldn't be an issue.

It's possible that your 4K UHD player can convert 50Hz video to 60Hz, depending on the model.

Mussolini 4K is 50p. My unmodified Panasonic UB9000 outputs it as 60p. My Sony X800M2 (which, as it happens, is modified) outputs it as 50p.

Interesting. Other than the technical specs, are you noticing a difference visually on both players?
