Default Tourist Trap (Uncut) - Coming Soon

So I'd suggest keeping expectations in check until this has been officially confirmed by review outlets but Full Moon has announced that they plan to release a new Uncut edition of Tourist Trap on Blu Ray.

Quote:
Tourist Trap (1979) fans should enjoy this bit of horror news.

Following the success of the first two releases in Full Moon's line of "Vintage VHS" collector's box sets - PUPPET MASTER and LASERBLAST - comes what is perhaps the most talked-about horror movie in Full Moon's library: director David Schmoeller's 1979 masterpiece TOURIST TRAP!

Produced by Charles Band, TOURIST TRAP is widely recognized as one of the scariest and strangest horror movies of the 1970s, a film championed by none other than Stephen King as wielding "an eerie, spooky power". Legendary actor Chuck Connors (THE RIFLEMAN, WEREWOLF) stars as Mr. Slausen, a telekinetic psychopath who lures a group of young people to his ramshackle roadside attraction, unleashing an army of psychically controlled mannequins and other monstrosities upon them. As the terrified youths fight for their lives, secrets are revealed and shock follows shock until the movie reaches its nightmarish, unforgettable finale.

With a cast featuring Jocelyn Jones (THE ENFORCER) Tanya Roberts (SHEENA, THE BEASTMASTER) and Robin Sherwood (DEATH WISH II), stark art direction by Robert A. Burns (THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE, THE HILLS HAVE EYES) and a terrifying, lush score by the great Pino Donaggio (DON'T LOOK NOW, CARRIE, DRESSED TO KILL), TOURIST TRAP is a macabre masterpiece, presented here in a stunning, totally uncut, digitally remastered transfer on both Blu-ray and DVD and packaged in a deluxe "Vintage VHS" big box with a custom made Mr. Slausen mini-action figure, complete with removable mask!

The TOURIST TRAP "Vintage VHS" box set is a major collectible for serious TOURIST TRAP fans and quantities are limited. The set will be ON SALE SOON at FullMoonDirect.com and other retail outlets so keep watching for updates!

I've never seen it but I've been wanting to. Has this been released uncut before? That being said, I'll definitely be waiting for a standard edition.

Great! Hope they give the transfer some real love. One of the great early-80s horror gems.

Full Moon released an edition many years ago which upon release was discovered to have been cut by around 5 minutes. Since then I believe there was a foreign release that had the footage in SD re-inserted but I could be wrong about that.

This is worth a read...

You're correct, there were a few limited edition German mediabook releases that had the missing footage inserted as standard definition. These have been OOP for a while now and go for a pretty penny. The UK release did not do this, which kind of soured 88 Film's relationship with Full Moon.

If this pans out, this will be good news, they've certainly been hounded to do the right thing for years.

The previous Full Moon DVD was crap.

I wouldn't buy this until reading several reviews.

I watched this on Shudder a few weeks ago. It was okay. I’ll give the uncut version another shot.

After the previous Blu-ray fiasco and having read more about Charles Band, I'll wait for reviews before buying this. I hope this makes up for the previous Blu, though. Fun movie and would love to own a good-looking copy of the uncut version.

LOL. Aren't you the same guy who was questioning why the Heavenly Kid had a teenage son in the 80's? Let it go, man - they're just movies. They're not real life. Just sit back and enjoy - forget about the plot holes

Good news. I bought the original Blu-ray but kept the DVD after finding out that the Blu-ray was cut. Pretty ridiculous that they even put it out that way; it is otherwise a pretty good release and has some informative interviews.

I've got the German Blu-ray release of the uncut Tourist Trap, with the cut scenes added in by way of standard definition footage with surprisingly seamless results for the most part.

I'm all in for this new Full Moon release, though, since this is my absolute favorite of the 1970s slasher/grindhouse/Nightmare USA titles.

The last thing my movie shelves need is a giant VHS-style box, but if there's a standard release of the cleaned-up uncut version, I'm all in.

I own an old DVD and only watched it once, but this was a pretty creepy and unsettling little flick.
