Default Dragon Wars - any reviews?

hey all, my friend at work brought dragon wars in for me to watch tonight on blu. was wondering if anyone had any reviews on this movie. my friend told me that the story and plot is not good, but the action and cg scenes are great. he said if you like a movie with humor and lots of destruction and war action than i would like it for that. any thoughts on this one? thanks

ya thats what i heard, but my friend and i talk about alot of movies and he did say that the story and plot were bad, but the action and graphics were good. i will watch it anyways as its a free movie to watch instead of renting it. thanks for your input.

I gave this movie a rent simply because I'm a big monster movie fan but I have to say the rotten reviews were spot on. There's plenty of war and destruction alright - for all of 20-30 minutes at most, which leaves you with at least an hour of shoddy acting replete with some of the biggest plot holes ever to come out of a movie studio. In fact, the best way to view it is to probably just skip the majority of it and just go straight to the big battle scenes at the end.

As for humor, the humor in this movie comes only from you going into Mystery Science Theater 3000 mode at how hilariously bad it is. In fact, our local anime club is going to give it a watch to do just that next week after three different people all agreed on how horrid it was - lol.

For the record, even though I'd heard the bad reviews beforehand, I went in with an open mind since I've watched other movies with bad critical receptions before and liked them. But this is not one of those rare cases. I wasn't expecting Citizen Kane but I didn't expect it to be as bad as Godzilla vs. Megalon either. At least the guys making Megalon could have excused themselves by making up something about how it was the 60s and they were under the influence of "recreational chemicals" - in D-war's case I don't know what they were smoking but it sure wasn't the good stuff

Sadly, I had to sit through the entire debacle at the theater with my son.

If you enjoyed Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as a kid, you'll enjoy this movie because they have the same special effects and acting

I saw it with my friend at the dollar theater and we both wanted our dollars back. I felt like I was the one that should have been payed to see that film, and not the other way around.

I enjoyed it for the most part but some of the special effects looked fake (some weren't too bad though). I consider it a B-type monster movie like the kind that use to be on TV a lot on Saturday mornings/afternoons. Although, I think it's probably a step or two up from those. I think movies like that are fun so I enjoyed this movie in that sense but if you're expecting more than that or don't enjoy those type movies, you probably won't like this.

I'm not guaranteeing it will happen but since blu-ray is taking over the media market the chances of it happening is probable

I own the movie and here are my thoughts. The special effects are very good. The story is very flawed. However, the acting dooms the movie. PQ is very good BTW.
