Default Night of the Living Dead 4K UHD (1990)

Night of the Living Dead 4K Blu-ray Steelbook

Night of the Living Dead 4K Blu-ray Steelbook

Night of the Living Dead 4K Blu-ray Eagle Steelbook

So a few weeks back. Heather Mazur commented on her instagram that she was filming special features for a new Blu-ray of Night of the Living Dead (1990). I had commented on her post concerning if it were a Blu-ray or a 4K release.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Cok-In0J...d=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Looked today and saw I had an instagram message from her directly and she confirmed it's a 4K Release. Guess she responded immediately, I just never saw the message request!

Great news! . I wonder if this will be released directly by Sony, or perhaps Shout Factory was able to get it?

I do remember it being on a list of "voteable" titles to be brought to the format a few years ago. This is great news though. If only we can get a Day of the Dead 4K, and maybe a Land of the Dead 4K!

Easy day one if true! The original is great but this is definitely my preferred version.

Had a feeling this was coming. Maybe through Arrow because it was recently screened at a horror marathon in London where the majority of the films were Arrow acquisitions, but I dunno, maybe Sony will pull a Fright Night and release a Steelbook in the States.

Last year's theme at Living Dead Weekend at the Monroeville Mall (Dawn's Filming location) was Night of the Living Dead 1990, they essentially had all of the main surviving cast there. I went, but missed the screening, but heard it was really good looking. So it might have been the new scan/master. A few times, extras have been filmed/prepared at that event because all of the stars are in one place.

I think he's poking fun at the rampant speculation of VS releasing it because they posted a picture of it on one of their socials at one point.

Lol, that went over my head. I'm too busy fantasising about VS releasing Caligula and Showgirls.

YES! Now we wait for that announcement. I'm betting on Sony Steelbook or Vinegar Syndrome. Shout wouldn't be out of the question either tbh.

I've pretty much lost track of the amount of dips on this one.

IIRC there were 3 blu-ray editions alone of this. Twilight Time, Umbrella, and Sony - each one upgrading upon the previous. This will be #4, except now 4K Blu-ray.

Same here. I first bought this as a double VHS pack with 'Return of the Living Dead'. I think Tartan Video put this out in the UK.

When I was getting rid of my VHS tapes I traded it in at Blockbuster(!), the guy who served me, well, his face lit up when he saw this, I don't think that VHS was put out on the shelves!

How come? If you don't mind me asking

I do like this film, so a 4K is great news. Hoping they finally nail a decent presentation of the film (having owned the DVD, Twilight Time and then the Umbrella blu-ray).

That's probably a lot of us. I'm just a lot older now two and half decades after buying my first dvds and growing up during the vhs rental era. The sense of gloom in realizing there's not enough time to watch everything multiple times and that life on earth is limited is starting to sink in. I'm still fine with blu in most cases, even dvd. If I were the same age as when the hi def wars were going on I'd probably start from scratch again. But now I'm reserving uhd more for catalog favorites and assuming price is decent.
