Default Proof that Blu-Ray was the winner from the beginning

Here's a proof that manufacturers always knew that Blu-Ray was gonna win the HD War. On the Pioneer Receivers released last year, they had an input for "BD" both on the receiver and on the universal remotes - and in the manuals the always made a reference to Blu-Ray and never to HD DVD.

YAY!

But their receivers are supposed to be neutral, its funny that they also have an input for Laserdiscs, lol. And they also have satellite radio capacity for BOTH providers: SIRUS and XM.

My Yamaha RX-V3800 has a button labled "BD / HD-DVD". Maybe it'll be a collector's item.

A Pioneer guy is the Head of BDA.

A better move then the other side putting a Studio guy in charge creating a conflict at least.

I don't understand why this is surprising. Pioneer was one of the original companies that supported digital encoding on disc. They have patents on production of Laser Discs. Some of their technology was used in the development of DVD. They collect royalties on DVDs. They cooperated with Sony in the development of Blu Ray. In fact, there are unconfirmed rumors that Sony's Blu Ray players (BDP-S500 and BDP-S2000ES) are made by Pioneer. Most electronic components become obsolete after a couple of years or sooner. Why should Pioneer care about supporting HD-DVD? They have a vested interest in Blu Ray sales as they receive royalties.
